I rarely can, because I hate using speakerphone around people. Then again, I'm not really much of a phone person to begin with. You have to jump through a number of hoops just to get privacy.

I can't pay attention to what they're saying, that's the problem.

Interesting, I don't have the problem unless I'm typing something that is long or requires a certain amount of brain power. I usually can do both fine.

Ya I'm the same way...if I'm on a computer and start browsing, I can't pay attention to both. That used to drive my ex nuts.

Actually, I find it pretty hard to do as well. I can't really read something and listen to something else at the same time.

Same here. I get in trouble when I try. If I'm reading a webpage I can't pay attention to what the person on the other line is saying.

I have DSL but can't do both at the same time.

 

My brain isn't hardwired to handle that much stimulation.

I do it and then just try to remember what the person just said and try to reply like a care. Like if someone was talking about how they went to see a movie I'd stay quiet until they finish and say "Really?" Hahaha.
