Most Overrated Song

Featured Replies

Many of you that have been around for a while may remember the 'Best Of' threads on different areas of music back in the day. While I'm not discounting that series coming back, here's your chance to help decide the different side of the debate: Most Overrated. This is the fourth thread in the series, most overrated song.

In this thread, nominate three choices for most overrated songs of all time. Any person nominating more than three will only have their first three selected. Furthermore, it's pointless to nominate a song that has already been named earlier - they don't get points for being brought up more than once (yet).

With that, my three nominations:

Kashmir by Led Zeppelin

Light My Fire by the Doors

Like a Rollin Stone by Bob Dylan

Satisfaction-Rolling Stones

I have a feeling someone is going to be a little biatch and nominate Stairway to Heaven, don't even think about it or I will personally pimp slap you.

With Pink Floyd being nominated in most overrated band, I wouldn't be surprised if Stairway gets mentioned.

Roxanne, the police (or sting, same thing)

Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffet

Crazy, Gnarls Barkley

"Bad Day" - Daniel Powter :banghead

Oh yes! I agree with you 100% on that one.

Roxanne, the police (or sting, same thing)

How could the song that produced the Roxanne drinking game be overrated?

There are so many songs from the past few years that became so ridiculously popular but were also incredibly horrendous. Like that Moulin Rouge song, "Hot in Here" by Nelly, and just a ton of garbage like that.

Hinder's Lips of an Angel...

Its a good song, but everyone is playing it all the time. People around here act as if its the greatest song ever written.

Another really overrated song is 50 Cents in Da club. While a nice beat, people talked about it when it came out as if it were the best rap song ever.

So basically according to everyone here, any song that is 'outplayed' is overrated.

hahah just for you. :kiss

Stairway to Heaven- Led Zeppelin

Freebird- Lynyrd Skynyrd (although with the view most people have of it now, it may be underrated. It's neither as good as many people think nor is it as bad as everyone else thinks. This may be the most perfectly balanced song ever)

And it pains me to say it, but "A Day In The Life". It hurts me to type that, but I always see it on the top of "best songs" lists, and I wouldn't even put it in the Beatles top 25. I love it, but it's not the best song ever...

"Bad Day" - Daniel Powter :banghead

Doesn't a song have to be highly rated to be overrated?

Not necessarily. With some songs, the fact they're even put out there and given attention to is too much.

And not every outplayed song is overrated. Like Stairway, which despite bobbob's crusade belongs firmly at #1 in my book.
