With the 5th pick in the NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

 

Troy Smith, Quarterback, The Ohio State Univeristy

Fox, everything I have seen has Smith going in the 2nd or 3rd round.

 

I would love to sign Simms for a year and draft Smith though. IMO he's the best QB in the draft, but scouts don't agree.

This team needs a franchise QB for the first time in it's history. I think either Quinn or Smith could be that guy.

Brohm is much more of a Gruden guy then Smith is. Although who knows if Chcuky will still be here (I think he will be).

 

I agree with you, either Quinn or Smith. I wouldn't mind seeing us go defense in Round 1, then Smith with one of the 2nd rounders.

 

This team has so many damn holes it's insane. We need a QB, another WR (Clayton is a bust), DT, DE, OLB, FS, and SS. I could argue we need another CB also.

 

It's a shame, especially after last season.

I agree with you, the whole team needs to be overhauled pretty much.

Troy Smith = underrated pro prospect. One of the few guys who can't seem to win when it comes to the NFL Draft.

 

First knock was that he wasn't a pocket passer. Then when he succeeded in the pocket, it was because of the talent around him. Now that he has the heisman wrapped up, he isn't complete because he is too short too succeed in the pocket in the NFL and his athletic ability will make him scramble instead of finding ways to accomplish his reads like a smaller guy like Drew Brees (makes no sense).

 

I'd love the Dolphins to draft this guy, unreal potential and for what its worth, I can not think of a QB with his athletic ability on the college level that also has the field awareness and arm strength this much developed heading into the pros. If he sits for a year or two, learning a system and practicing, the sky is the limit.
