Hi everybody...im new to the forum but ive been reading posts off here for a while...just decided to be able to voice my own opinion since i bleed teal and black all the way up in maryland!!! Anyways...ive been keepin track on who i want to see in CF next year for the fish...this isnt a wish list but a realistic view of who could be in center

1) Brian Anderson...yea he struggled but hes 24

2) Ryan Sweeney...struggled too but look hes only 22 or so i mean you want young and cheap there it is plus hes got really good AAA numbers

3) Chris Denorfia way i see it with a full time job he could be very good plus the reds need any kind of decent pitching and we have plenty...plus we probably wouldnt have to give up Olsen or JJ

4) David Murphy...what the heck..everyone else says its likely thats why i put him last

Notice i didnt put Upton or baldelli here cause mainly i think the Drays are too greedy and want way too much...i mean if u cant take a Upton for nolasco deal i mean seriously thats the best they should be offered...

any thoughts?

Welcome aboard. :thumbup

Most of these have been mentioned in threads previous to you joining us butmaybe we'll have another round of discussion on each of them.

what about steve finley? if the team can get him to sign a minimum non- guaranteed contract with invitation to spring training.

the guy is not that far removed from having a good year, and it wouldnt cost the team much, and if he sucks in spring training then cut him.

i think its good guy to bring in if he can perform, despite his age... of course he would have to accept a minimum contract, and I doubt he would

I don't doubt that. He can start 100 games vs RHP for the Marlins in CF versus being a 4th or 5th OF somewhere else. Maybe playing time is worth more to him then being on a bench for a maybe contender. Throw Cody out in CF versus the lefties, and that platoon would probably hit about .245/.325/.435 (2006 Marlins CF .228/.298/.344).

I don't really like the idea, but given the exhaustion of options on the trade market (which I know hasnt happened yet), non tender (looks like no Michaels, Wilkerson, Sullivan, etc), nothing in the Rule V, etc, Finley is certainly an upgrade to Amezaga as a 100 game starter in CF when it comes down to it. I would put this in the severe backup backup backup plan category.

I am guessing Raynor and Cousins will get looks in Spring Training.

See finley is just that old....so it doesnt really go with the youth movement we got...plus we already got an "old" guy that plays center and has had a bad year...and thats reggie...honestly if we couldnt get anyone id rather see cody ross out there...

Cody should only be starting vs LHP and used as the bench anti-loogy assassin. Which is why if they go cheap, all they need to do is find a CF who hits RHP and plays defense. Kenny Lofton was perfect, to bad he went for twice what I was expecting.

Welcome to the boards.

Seems like teams are demanding one of our blue chip pitchers in order to trade a young CF, and Beinfest isnt giving in. I'm glad he is standing firm.

So it looks like Cody/Borch, etc. out there in CF

Cody Cody Cody Cody

It could be worse

I say we bring back Jose Canseco and start him at all nine positions!

(we are going in with a platoon of waste material this year in CF) :batman

Canseco is a knuckleballer now...he will be our closer ;)

On another note - what the heck is with all the Maryland Marlins fans? I moved up here last August (from Miami & it's temporary), and I don't get it.

Maybe we should all gather on opening day at RFK next year.

way ahead of you there...already plan on goin to that game wouldnt miss it for the world

I am guessing Raynor and Cousins will get looks in Spring Training.

Cousins is 21 years olds and posted a .509 OPS in his first stint in single A.

If he gets a serious shot to make the team in spring training, I will flip out and demand Beinfest's resignation. Thankfully, you're crazy and this isn't something that will happen.

Nice to see the MB.com tradition of at least one unnecessary personal attack per thread continues.

Cousins/Raynor unlikely, Campusano/De Aza slightly more so, any chance these guys get in the mix, I know Campusano has zero power, but De Aza seemed to have a good year until injured...

Welcome to the boards, man. I love Maryland! Anyways, there has been talk about a platoon with Denorfia and Sullivan as of late. I wouldn't mind that but would like to see the Marlins go after a CF with more power like David DeJesus.
