October 12, 200323 yr This is a guy I'll pay to watch pitch anytime. First ever complete game, & it comes with the team in the playoffs, on the brink of elimination, and he pitches a 2-hit shutout. Someone mentioned on the radio that this is the night Josh Beckett became a man. If/when AJ comes back healthy, those 2 are gonna be some kind of duo. Fantastic, dominating stuff tonight. Cubs never had a chance once Lowell gave the Fish the lead. Go Marlins!
October 12, 200323 yr those 2 are gonna be some kind of duo. You mean, like Wood/Prior? I think they are even the same ages. lol.
October 12, 200323 yr Like I posted in the game thread Beckett stays healthy....NO DOUBT IN MY MIND, he'll be a Cy Young winner.
October 12, 200323 yr Author those 2 are gonna be some kind of duo. You mean, like Wood/Prior? I think they are even the same ages. lol. yes, I mean like Wood/Prior. Penny should've taken notes today. Beckett was throwing gas, 95, 97, even hit 100 mph on the fastball tonight, but he was throwing changeups & curves all over the place.
October 12, 200323 yr Fox commentators said that no offense to Prior/Wood, but Josh pitched the best game in this series no doubt

The players with the best stuff in our rotation are basically the same as the Cubs. Our Wood is Burnett, our Prior is Beckett, our Zambrano is Penny. Except our 4th and 5th starters are better.
October 13, 200323 yr Author How about Beckett putting Sosa down on his asss? That was awesome. :thumbup Sosa starts crying about it, Beckett calmly goes back & strikes him out. Josh owned him today. Intimidation baby. :ninja

October 13, 200323 yr 100 mph ? i never seen taht outta him before. why cant he always pitch like this? its like today he was pitching his best and during the season he wasnt trying
October 13, 200323 yr He was nervous in games 1 and 2 of the NLDS and NLCS but he really pitched well in those games. He was unhittable today. Beautiful!!!
October 13, 200323 yr 100 mph ? i never seen taht outta him before. why cant he always pitch like this? its like today he was pitching his best and during the season he wasnt trying You can see him during the season, he keeps his fastball down around 93 early in the count, and when he throws it with two strikes, he kicks it up to 96+. He tries to save himself. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
October 13, 200323 yr How about Beckett putting Sosa down on his asss? That was awesome. :thumbup Sosa starts crying about it, Beckett calmly goes back & strikes him out. Josh owned him today. Intimidation baby. :ninja These players today are WAY too touchy about inside pitches. Ramirez yesterday and Sosa today. Sosa's outburst was totally uncalled for. Nice move by Pudge, talking to him and calming him down. You could tell Beckett was a little pissed......100 mph? Unbelievable.
October 13, 200323 yr it was the best pitching performance ive ever seen in person, they couldnt do s*** to him and he was literally blasting people away. it was incredible, in the 9th he was still going at 95 mph. it was f***ing incredible. another good pitching performance on Tuesday and we're back in this s*** he definetly delievered on all his promise today, he's not a pitcher with "potential" anymore. he's a big league pitcher
October 13, 200323 yr you have to be more specific (thats how hard he was going), the highest i saw on the radar was 99, but i didnt spend the entire time looking at the radar. it was a badass performance, he made Sosa look like a little b*tch, especially on that pitch high and in on him. "THUG LIFE"

Unbelievable. they showed durig the game that sosa had his helmet shaterred earlier ths yr by solomn torress. Plus half an inning earlier, cabrera got plunked. i thought it was on purpose when i first saw it too. especially since becket had his comand all day
October 13, 200323 yr i think it was on purpose to, Beckett wanted to prove a point... dont f*** with my players especially after the Lowell incident a month and a half ago. lets not forget Clemens is one of his favorites being from Texas
October 13, 200323 yr especially after the Lowell incident a month and a half ago. I got TOTAL dejavoo (sp) when that ball rode up and in at 95 MPH at Cabs, and it looked like it hit him in the same place at the time. I was freaking out. I think it was intentional because the runners has just moved up on a wild pitch, and they wanted to set-up the DP for Lee.
October 13, 200323 yr Josh Beckett earned the respect of the world when he dropped Sammy on his a**. Everyone around me was like "you the man Josh". It's really about time, they have been throwing high and tight on our hitters all 3 games at Joe Robbie and we hadn't answered back at all. I don't think Jack called for this one, I think Josh took it on his own to answer back for his team. And he earned the respect of his team and every single person in that stadium, Cub fan or not, when not only did he level Sammy but then brushed off the ball and blew him away. For the record, I was watching the gun for Beckett (they kept putting slider when he would throw the hook, it was kinda funny) and never did he hit 100 when I watching. I think 100 on that gun would have drawn alot of ooos and aaahs from the crowd. He did hit 98 twice in a row in that at bat to Sammy on my watch, though, and threw 98 several times after.
October 13, 200323 yr when i saw 95 in the 9th, i was going crazy. i kept thinking this motherf***er could go 12 if needed. he was incredible
October 13, 200323 yr I think Beckett threw inside to keep Sosa off the plate. BTW: Beckett reached 100mph on the third pitch to Sosa, I think.
October 13, 200323 yr fox gun said 100 once and 98 and 99's a few times, but only after the sosa temple music
