I've got Sonic Youth's Goo rotating right now.

I can't get in to any other Sonic Youth album but I think Goo is fantastic.

Kim Gordon's voice is one of my favorites.

I think "Murray Street" is their best one.

Ever? I'll take Daydream Nation

bobbob may be the only Sonic Youth fan in the world who thinks Murray Street is their best.

In terms of best Youth output, its gotta be a race between Daydream and Goo.

So I finally took a listen to Eric B and Rakim's paid in full today. Yes, I know it's bad it took me this long but it's a tad bit good. I don't really know why but I've been on such a classic rap kick lately. I have Biggie's "Ready to Die" up next

I love that album, Rakim is soooooooooo smooth on it.

Ready to Die is great also, favorite song is Suicidal Thoughts, incredibly heartfelt.

Actually, I probably prefer Daydream Nation, but Murray Street is amazing.

I'm just throwing this out there. Does anybody like Juice Newton?

"just call me angel of the morning angel"

how can anyone not like a chick named Juice?

Is there a better coda in rock/music history then the one in 'Hey Jude'?

Don't answer, it's a rhetorical question. Of course there isn't.

There is no other song I look forward so much to the ending like that one.

While agreed, I feel ashamed in saying for the first 10 years of my life I could have sworn they were saying "Hey jew" and thinking the Beatles were being just rude

:lol

It also has to be the best lullaby ever.

Agreed, I don't have any real interest in the movie but the placement of "Hey Jude" in the trailer for Across the Universe almost had me excited for the movie but I'm just not a big fan of the whole visual first type of movie

I picked up the soundtrack this week, it is very, very, very good.

Evan Rachel Wood kills on it and T.V. Carpio's rendition of 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' is one of the sexiest things I've heard in a while. I wish they would have let her sing it a cappella all the way through though. One of the better Beatles covers ever as far as I'm concerned.

If you're interested get it from Best Buy as they have a 2-disc deluxe edition that is slightly more then the regular single disc edition. A must for a Beatles fan IMO.

Fox that Rumors album cover from your sig is one of the very first pieces of music I ever bought. Still have the old 12-inch vinyl tucked away in my closet somewhere.

My dad played them constantly when I was growing up, so it's all burned into my head.

That ending could go on for 8 hours, and it wouldn't be enough.

Has to be one of my top 10 albums ever and 'The Chain' is one of my favorite songs ever. I've been trying to 'master' it on guitar over the past 2 weeks with some mixed results. The Chain has to have one of the best bass solos ever too (3:04!). That whole sequence of Fleetwood's snare, McVie's simple yet amazing bass line and

Buckingham's guitar work on the end of that song is absurdly good.

My dad like yours, used to play it along with a ton of other rock classics for me and my brothers when we were little. The majority of it on vinyl. I can't thank him enough for that or I might be discussing the musical merit of Good Charlotte or something. :lol

I'm going on a bit of a tangent but you never hear Lyndsey Buckingham's name when people talk about great classic rock guitarist. The guy was an absolute bad ass on a bunch of hit tracks and has a tremendous voice, so underrated.

I've been listening to the Across The Universe soundtrack, I like it.

And of course, it made me go back to the originals. I've been listening to the Beatles all day, basically. Music doesn't get much better than those 4 guys. At the end of the day, no matter how much other stuff I listen to, I'll always come back to them. It's amazing how much amazing music they released in basically 7 years.

Anyone here like female vocalist's and the soundtrack to "Road To Perdition"?

Then you must check out the track, "Need to Feel Loved" by Reflekt.

Fantastic female vocals and several samples from the movie = A great tune

Whoa, seriously?

Road To Perdition is an absolutely fantastic soundtrack. "Road to Chicago" is one of the most underrated cuts from a film score in a long time to me. I'm definitely going to have to give that a look.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ha! I've actually definitely heard this before.

They seem to just sample the main movement of the main theme. Pretty kick ass. Thanks again for brining it up.

Man

I'm in absolute LOVE with Zero 7

This is exactly what I was looking for when I asked for suggestions a few months back (I'm slow). Amazing chilling music, absolutely bea-u-ti-ful vocals, f***ing amazing man. I'm also not normally a fan of instrumental pieces most of the time (Some can be epic, most just suck) but their instrumental songs are great too.

Thank you for whoever it was that pointed me to them

Harry Chapin - Cats In The Cradle

Great song from the 70's

Freakin love that song. Makes me think of my Dad big time (obviously)

"Nessun Dorma!"

I would guess that this is Pavarotti's most famous work (or in the top 3). As we all know he passed away recently and Bono called him a "great volcano of a man" (affectionately of course :blush )

I know its borderline ManCard revokable to like Opera but this track is really cool and I can't remember which movie I have heard this in.

The ending is especially cool. I would like this played at my funeral.
