May 9, 200719 yr At this rate Reed is going to be out of options by the end of the month. Not that there's the slightest danger of any other team picking him up. It's 1 option per year. So he could go back and forth as much as he wants. I don't see how him starting makes it any more of a problem then if Reed was. Fact is that we don't have a healthy CF right now, and Reggie atleast has the chance (however slim they are) to add to the offense (not counting Reed's heroics last night) Maybe he found the rejuvenation machine in Albuquerque but the Reggie I saw last year sucked in every aspect of the game, and that's not just on the offensive side of the ball. If he's up here to help in a pinch, or in limited duty, great, but I'd really like to minimize his chances for mistakes when this team hasn't been getting a ton of good breaks.

The Reggie we saw last year was also getting picked off and couldn't steal for his life... maybe things change worst comes to worse he comes up, he is terrible and he gets the boot... but maybe he can get a hit or two for us and hey, atleast he is entertaining to watch.... even if sometimes its not in our favor :shifty
May 9, 200719 yr Reggie's return to the majors coincides with "The Rockets" return. http://www.ifilm.com/profile/Sportech/video/2832401 Reggie owns The Rocket. Good times.
May 9, 200719 yr I don't think the Reggie hate is legit, and some of you are acting like Reed has actually done something. 1) Reggie made some great plays in the outfield last season, and some bad ones also. Let's see if he has worked out the kinks. 2) He is a right handed power bat, Reed is a left handed.....does he ever have a bat? Neither guy has hit well in their career, but Reggie has better tools. 3) Reed is a no-body. Reggie is a no-body with power. I'll take the second guy. Neither should be a starting option, but give me Reggie anyday.
May 9, 200719 yr All of you saying Reggie has earned his way up are ignoring the fact that Reed hasn't earned being demoted.
May 9, 200719 yr Reed hasn't earned staying up either. He isn't helping either because he is left handed, and our other CF Amezaga can't hit right handed to save his life.
May 9, 200719 yr Reed hasn't earned staying up either. He isn't helping either because he is left handed, and our other CF Amezaga can't hit right handed to save his life. How has he done anything to prove he's not worthy? He's had 14 at bats. 14! How can you judge anyone on that? He only had one start, and while going hitless he played solid defense (something Reggie doesn't know how to do). Try being used to starting regularly, and then being moved to the bench and expected to hit/run on a moment's notice. It's a terribly difficult adjustment, especially for a young kid used to playing everyday. Twice he's reached base, one of those he scored. He also scored one of the very few times he was used as a pinch runner. He's looked much better in the field than Amezaga and the garbage man. Why send him down for someone who was losing a flyball a game in ST?
May 9, 200719 yr I think you guys are forgetting about that shot he hit in Cincinatti. I think you might be forgetting that Reggie apparently can't see spherical objects that are colored white.
May 9, 200719 yr I really feel for Reed. I hardly ever watch the postgame stuff but watched it last night and the guy was so happy to finally contribute. I think he did enough to win the job during ST but unfortunately for him De Aza came out of nowhere and beat him out and he (Reed) did put up good numbers in AAA last year. I think with Cody out he should be given a shot. Couldn't have said it better myself. Heartbreaking.
May 9, 200719 yr I think Reggie has actually struggled against LHP, but Id stll rather have him up than Reed. He hit nicely in querque
May 9, 200719 yr Are they doing the humidor thing in the high altitude MiLB parks like they are in Colorado?

May 9, 200719 yr Reggie has been killing the ball lately and is 15/15 in stolen bases this year. He's better then Reed. No doubt. Is he any good and improved from last year? That's what we'll find out.
May 9, 200719 yr Just throw him out there and see what he does. Alfredo is not exactly lighting up the scoreboard.

Why send him down for someone who was losing a flyball a game in ST? You're forgetting why Reed was called up. It was because of necessity, not because he earned it. He should have been lucky to get 1 at bat, let alone 14. And that he was unable to secure his role in 14 at bats allows other players to earn promotions in spite of him.
May 10, 200719 yr Author meanwhile, they say Reggie will play vs lefties... why!?!?! in AAA vs righties: .317/.380/.634 vs lefties: .143/.250/.143

May 10, 200719 yr What were their respective stats when they were attempting to earn their jobs in ST? Abraham Nunez says ST doesn't mean much.
