5/12 - Florida Marlins vs. Washington Nationals

Wow, I haven't posted here in a while. Sucks about the rain delay.

I expected regressions across the board with our SP (minus train). I didnt expect to compete this season (target 08-09). So not making a deal like Nolasco + any SP in the minors for a potential offensive and defensive superstar at a huge position of need CF (he's starting to play there now) because of what we need right now (and Nolasco aint doing crap) isnt sound decision making.

terrible logic. that would have been such a money trade, but there's no way they deal him now

scoring 10 runs a game and always losing 11-10 isnt very sound logic either...we need healthy pitchers who can pound the strike zone or else we will just end up getting pounded devil rays style and never have a chance at anything over 3rd place

but Nolasco isn't that good.

and anyway, give the DRays, another year or two

they'll finish ahead of the Yanks or Sox soon

pitching is on the way

you have the luxury of thinking we wouldnt compete this year...our front office doesnt...we need pitching and lots of it...and that is what will help us be competitive for years, not an inexperienced center fielder who would be every bit as lost as reggie is when he is out there

i agree about nolasco...but he is better than most give him cred for...

and no...the only way the drays finish ahead of the yanks or sawx is when the atlantic ocean is filled with water from the polar ice caps and put NYC and Boston under 300 feat of water...and no...im not exaggerating at all...the yanks and sawx would sooner shoot a missile at the drays team plane than allow them to finish ahead of them in the standings

This sucks! Why is it that everytime there's a rain delay, we have to be subjected

to watch David Samson run his stupid iron man race?

Don't even say Reggie and B.J. in the same sentence. Yes they both strike out, they both are quick, but one is hitting .260 in the minors, while another is hitting .340 in the AL East. BJ is younger with one of the brightest futures in the league. Reggie is nothing.

thanks...but obviously it's no use

Don't overrated Upton because of his hot start. He has an EXTREMELY high BABIP, showing he's been very lucky so far this year. Once it goes down to normal proportions he'll likely be hitting in the ~.260-270 range.

I'm not overating him. I know he will not consistently hit at the clip he's hitting now. He will definitely ease off, as well as about 40% of the league.

He has hit .296 in 1,800 Minor League ABs (1200 or so of these were at AAA), and has been a top prospect for 4 years. Plus he is only 23. B.J. Upton will be a good major league starter for years to come, and he will hit .285 this year.

no one is overrating him because of his hot start

By no one, I meant me and Sham

ok guys...ill take your word for it...upton will be a hell of a ballplayer...but can you also see the myriad reasons not to trade ricky?

Upton is worth far more specially when considering our depth.

Hell I would of given then Johnson or Nolasco or even more perhaps just not Olsen

Ill try to see your point...I think we could still compete this season if our guys come back healthy and dealing

I wasn't saying that Upton will never be good, or that he isn't even good now (obviously he is). But there are a ton of people that just look at his numbers now and overrated his currently skill level.

And considering his high SO rate and high BABIP, I really really really doubt he'll finish with a .285 average this year.

yeah, no way he finishes at 320+

however, the secondary skills he'sshowing are phenomenal....the HR, BB, and SB

His OBP is what matters, plus considering his potential for a 5 tool player he is something very special. I have been saying that for a while now along with some others (notably ramp specially).

But it doesnt matter anymore it would cost is more then olsen not to get him off of TB I bet.

umm isnt anyone noticing how mediocre ricky's fastball has become....if i recall it was mid 90's last year

really? :lol

his fastball has always been mediocre at the very best.

It's friggin raining. He topped out as high as 97 last year (one pitch, 96 several times) but that was always in Miami.
