May 23, 200719 yr Per my fiancee (who has been a Suns fan since she was a little girl and whose opinion on all things Suns I trust) there is a rumored riff between Amare/Nash/Marion and that may be why a player of Amare's stature would be on the outs. Personally, I find this retarded. You don't deal franchise players so if there is in fact a problem you deal Marion. I do think Marion is a good player, especially defeinsively, but he doesn't make or break the Suns and you could probably get 2 guys for 1 and get rid of his contract. I don't like the idea of going after a player (not to mention older and possibly lesser talented as Amare matures and continues to get back from the injury) for the sole reason that he matches up with a single player for a potential single playoff series down the road. Doesn't make much sense to me to mortgage your future and an already championship caliber team.

Lets do a little rundown of where he would sit on a big draft board: Hawes definitely won't jump Oden or Durant so that would make him #3. Can Atlanta afford to pass on another PG? I can see Mike Conley Jr. here. He's #4 or they will use that 11 pick on Acie Law. The Hawks are getting a PG with one of their 1st two picks. I don't think he will go over the Florida trio either. So slot him at #7 now. Charlotte needs a center and they pick before the Bulls. Would they take Hawes or Jianilan? That is where the Bulls need to worry about losing Hawes with Hibbert gone. Brandan Wright has to be in the fold at some point too and no way Jordan would pass on Wright at this point if he falls this far. I don't think the Bulls are in that bad of shape because there are so many good prospects in this draft and only two teams that pick ahead of the Bulls sans the team that gets Oden need a center (Minnesota and Charlotte) over other needs. Personally. if they can't get Hawes I say trade that pick either down or out of the entire 1st round.

I find the last sentence interesting in Ford's mock The skinny: The Bulls desperately need low-post scoring, and Hawes may be the most offensively-gifted low-post player in the draft. He can score in a variety of ways around the basket and has the toughness Scott Skiles demands from his players. The main drawback is Hawes' lack of athleticism and strength. The Bulls really want Yi, so don't be surprised if they try to move up a few spots in the draft to get him. As we've seen, Bulls aren't afraid to move picks, up or down. Should be an interesting offseason

"Assuming Atlanta's pick doesn't land in the top three, here's my proposal: Stoudemire, Atlanta's pick (depending on how the lottery shakes out, it would be as high as No. 4 or as low as No. 6) and Marcus Banks (for cap purposes) to Minnesota for Garnett and Minnesota's pick (as high as No. 7, as low as No. 9). Here's why both teams should do it: Minnesota: That's practically 100 cents on the dollar for KG. They're getting a first-team All-NBA big man who's younger than KG, plus they're jumping into the top five of the draft with a chance to add another blue-chip forward (either Brandan Wright or Al Horford). Should be an interesting offseason Yep, the strength (especially lower body strength which for most big men coming out of high school is a big issue) thing has always been there for him. But he is young enough that it shouldn't be a concern. I know literally nothing about Yi so I can't say anything good or bad and have no preference on him. If the Bulls think he is there man then obviously they should do it. The new FO has that good of a track record right now.

May 23, 200719 yr Its amazing how fortunate Atlanta was to land where they did in such a good and deep draft. They got their pick in the top 3 so it was protected from Phoenix and then their pick from Indiana had to land out of the top 10 and it landed at no. 11. Nuts.

June 27, 200719 yr I really feel for the Celtics. They've got real good fans and they are unquestionably the key to prying KG away, yet he won't come to Boston. Really really sucks for them to essentially be the key to a trade and not come away with the best player moved.
