WFAN in New York is reporting Griffey has been sent to to Braves or is about to be sent to the Braves. He has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to go to Atlanta and has already signed off on paperwork to do so. Details to follow as they become available, but it may be part of a huge fire sale in Cincinnati as there are also rumors out that Adam Dunn could be sent to the Dodgers.

Wow.

I think it would be good for the Reds and Junior. I'm hoping we get Salty in return.

The only thing that makes me think this may not be true is that Griffey is in the lineup tonight.

Heh. Wonderful.

That's all we need in the NL East, another bat.

If they gave up Salty it would be a huge mistake for the Braves.

Agreed.

Well I don't know about a huge mistake, but I think it would be giving up a bit much even if they do have McCann. I always thought it would probably take Griffey and Loshe to get Salty.

I'd say a huge mistake. Thinking about it though, there is no way they gave up Salty for him. No way. The Braves are smarter than that.

Why would it be a huge mistake? They already have McCann and it's not like Griffey is bad. He's having a great year, and they could stick him in LF and minimize the injury risk.

i'm betting it's diaz and a minor leaguer.

Hell no. It would either be Salty or pitching.

Because there's no reason for them to pick up a left fielder. What they need is a center fielder. And Satalamcchia is so much more valuable than Griffey at this point it's insane.

He would be a 37 year old rental who has broken down every year the past 6 years. He is having a great year but you don't give up your top prospect(by FAR) who plays a premium position even if he is blocked.

How is he a rental? He has a year and a half left on his deal.

And I wouldn't do for Salty for Griffey straight either, but I don't think it would be awful.

Sorry, I figured that contract was done after this year. Still, its really not equal at all.

If I were a Reds fan I would be hoping for Elvis Andrus. He is a good player and you guys could use a nice SS prospect.

That's true. However, I still think I would prefer some pitching over a SS.

Because Salty needs to be tried at 3rd since Chipper...even in his prime...has always been an atrociously awful defensive 3B.

I would see if Salt could handle that position before I would trade him(worked for Inge)

i would rather try escobar (he came up last week) at third and move chipper to first. personally, i'm starting to doubt the rumor.
