August 2, 200719 yr So yea, my car insurance went up again for no reason! How about Im paying more a month for my car insurance than I am monthly for my BRAND NEW CAR! How crazy is that! Anyone have any suggestions about car insurance? What company do you use/suggest?
August 2, 200719 yr shop it also check with your state regulators to see if there is a cap to yearly % increase also check the DOI to see what kind of consumer services they have - some states have rate comparisons for all filed carriers AZ is really expensive and my sister in law just got 6 months of coverage through progressive for $550 - solid coverage - 2000 car - 1 speeding violation and under 25
August 2, 200719 yr car insurance companies are going to gouge you until you turn 25, especially on a new car, and especially if you are male. and if you have anything at all on your record...then its doubled. life. deal with it.
August 2, 200719 yr I don't understand this at all, as female drivers under 25 are by far worse than male drivers under 25.
August 3, 200719 yr Author What company you have? I have State Farm and never had a problem with them! :|
August 3, 200719 yr I don't understand this at all, as female drivers under 25 are by far worse than male drivers under 25. haha true. but i guess males are more likely to race, drink and drive ect. F4L what car do you drive...and if its red try to get it painted it a different color...and if you are still a student and get good grades i think that can lower it a little...but unfortunately Das is right...just try not to get into any accidents or tickets because then you are really screwed.
August 3, 200719 yr How old are you? How long have you been driving? What's your driving record like?

August 3, 200719 yr How old are you? How long have you been driving? What's your driving record like? 4 yrs, 1 ticket (speeding) Well the speeding ticket definately works against you. Plus the fact that you bought a Corolla SPORT (Insurance companies love that word as they use it as an excuse to raise the rates......yes I'm aware that its a Corolla). Btw little piece of friendly advice: Don't get into a car accident because State Farm (or any insurance company for that matter) will OWN you for the next four years. You think your rates are bad now.... :shifty

I pay about $240 for my 07 Honda Civic Sedan for Full Coverage, but i havent had any tickets yet though.
August 3, 200719 yr I'm 16 and am going to register for insurance soon. I'm dyin' right now wondering what I'm gonna have to pay...and I'll have to pay for it, my parents won't do it. damn.
August 3, 200719 yr i'm glad i sold my car and no longer need one. such a hassle. also, damn this board is young.
August 3, 200719 yr I hate paying my auto insurance.. it seems like so much of my income. Well, maybe one day I will actually need to use it. But until then I will be bitter.
August 3, 200719 yr I have an '06 Honda Accord. I pay $110 a month. I'm 25, Ive had 2 accidents within the last 48 months, one my fault the other not my fault. The accident they considered my 'fault' was my tire exploded on the highway and ripped off the front left fender, the front bumper and the rim was shot. The accident that wasn't my 'fault' was a 2x4 slammed into my windshield and tore the whole front part of my roof. I just got my first speeding ticket since Jan-2001 a couple months ago. Ticket lawyer got me 0 points, no traffic school, but I had to pay $360 for the ticket and court costs. My insurance is with Geico. Ive had them now for two years and they've been great. Before that I had Unitrin Direct and before that I had Mercury and before that I had State Farm.
August 3, 200719 yr i'm glad i sold my car and no longer need one. such a hassle. also, damn this board is young. you're right. paying auto insurance every 6 months and all that is such an extreme hassle. then again, i'd rather pay for a car and insurance than to pay to live in ole san francisco.
August 3, 200719 yr I've been using Geico for probably 9 years now and can say they've been awesome. I pay like $346 every six months for full coverage and I've got all their bonuses and everything. I've even got their special "Oops" rating which means if I get into an accident, my rates don't go up.
August 3, 200719 yr I agree. Shop around. We have Liberty Mutual and for the 3 of us (me, my hubby and our 23 year old daughter who has had 2 accidents) we still pay $1980 a year. We own all our cars- a 2002 Chevy Astro Van, a 1995 (yes, I said 1995) Honda Civic Hatchback and a 1999 Honda Civic LX. It depends on where you live also. Rates in Miami are higher than in Broward/Pembroke Pines.
August 3, 200719 yr Author Well I feel a bit better today after getting everything sorted out.. I call State Farm today and asked for a detailed reason why my insurance went up 106.00 in the matter of a month. Turns out they miss filed 2 papers that gave me a 15% discount (One for "Good Student") and the other for having a certain amount of cars on the same policy or something... So my insurance has gone back down to my normal 297.01 a month... Still a bit high but hey "Its life deal with it". They are going to send me a check for the refund since my auto insurance comes out of my account auto.
August 4, 200719 yr Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. Things like that tend to happen sometimes.
