September 14, 200719 yr Yeah the guy's girlfriend lied for him and gave people the name of an identity he had stolen. They caught him about an hour ago, better said, they killed him about an hour ago in an apartment in Pembrooke Pines. Its sad to say, but it had to be done, an example had to be made. And if it turns out to be the wrong guy?
September 14, 200719 yr They found him with a ton of ammunition, body armor and supplies to survive a long stand off with police so I'm 99.9999999999999% sure they have the right guy.
September 14, 200719 yr Author I don't know why an example had to be made, we all know that in Florida a cop killer will likely be swiss cheese in the Coroner's Office within 24 hours.
September 14, 200719 yr Are some of you seriously playing Monday Morning QB about a manhunt for a cop killer? Why not let some details come out before you start speculating about possibly killing the wrong guy.
September 14, 200719 yr damn, he was found like 10 minutes from where I live. :| well that's good they got a tip and all is done with because the resources they were using for this guy (rightfully so) were crazy.

And if it turns out to be the wrong guy? The subject that they killed fired at officers first so if you want to be technical about it, it doesnt matter if it was the wrong guy. Officers used deadly force when fired upon. Its a no brainer. Plus, when they pull gunshot residue off of his hands and match it to the AK he used to commit murder, we'll know for sure he was the killer.

What if he had an evil twin sister that set him up? I see this stuff on CSI: Miami all the time... :mis2

September 14, 200719 yr Don't know if they have any reason to connect the crimes other than they were both police-involved, but BSO is testing a 9mm found with LaBeet to see if it was involved in the still-unsolved Sgt. Reyka killing.

September 14, 200719 yr I don't know why an example had to be made, we all know that in Florida a cop killer will likely be swiss cheese in the Coroner's Office within 24 hours. The police couldn't allow two cases like this occur so close to each other without someone paying for it. And like someone said before, I don't know how it could be the wrong guy if the guy they killed initiated fire and was found with ammunition and armor. Not every black guy just walks around with that.

Not every black guy just walks around with that. My point was that it should have been known that the cop killer would be swiss cheese once they found him. The other cop killers have had the luck that police don't know who they are too well.
September 14, 200719 yr I kind of see where your coming from. But you also have to understand that if this guy doesn't pay, they it might make it seem like killing a cop is something you can get away with. So in order for your "swiss cheese" theory to remain true, they had to get this guy.

So in order for your "swiss cheese" theory to remain true, they had to get this guy. You don't seem to understand the gist of the "swiss cheese" theory. The guy, once found, was going to be swiss cheese. It was only a matter of time. If they find the others, their odds of coming to jail alive are 50%.
September 14, 200719 yr The Gun used in the shootout yesterday did not match of the one used against Sgt.Reyka.
September 15, 200719 yr So I guess all you "he's gotta be swiss cheese" lovers prefer that over the rule of law. I live in the United States. I want the rule of law. Always.
September 15, 200719 yr As the son of a police officer who was almost killed a few years ago, I would like to say I fully agree with the swiss cheese approach. These animals don't deserve to be a burden on the taxpaying public. I'm glad my dad got him before he got my dad and his partner.
September 15, 200719 yr The problem is that we don't know for sure that this was the guy. We have courts and juries that are charged with figuring that out.

September 15, 200719 yr In other words, whoever did this deserves to die - this is exactly what the death penalty is for (among other crimes). But there needs to be a legal process and it needs to be respected. Now, if there was a legit shootout (meaning, it wasn't called a shootout for the sake of killing the guy) then that's the end of the discussion.
September 15, 200719 yr Author So I guess all you "he's gotta be swiss cheese" lovers prefer that over the rule of law. I live in the United States. I want the rule of law. Always. The swiss cheese theory applies perfectly with the rule of law because these cop killers don't surrender, instead they resist and fight back opening the door for themselves to become swiss cheese. Cop Killer + Gunfight = Swiss Cheese
September 15, 200719 yr The "gunfights" are often made up to justify the killing of the "suspect." Don't be a fool.
September 15, 200719 yr I'm going to have to go with prinmemito here. Any time you can, you should take the suspect in alive. Killing them on the spot, while often justified because they fired back, isn't the way we do it here.
September 15, 200719 yr Uhh do you people not realize he was armed heavily? That doesn't sound like surrendering with hands up in the air ready to be handcuffed to me. He was not only a threat to the officers but to the whole community that he was hiding in. Even if he didn't officially draw his gun (which we'll never find out), the fact that he even prepared to fight off is enough. Plus, the legal process is a joke time-wise.
