September 21, 200718 yr It might sound kind of stupid. But what if baseball is brought back to the Olympics, Miami hosts Olympic games(perfect city) in like 12 years, so a baseball stadium is constructed and we get it for free because of the Olympics?

Do you post on the Panthers message board? I went over there for the first time today and saw a post asking if people think "all you can eat seats" would be a good idea there. Are there two of you coming up with that same amazing idea at the same time?

It has taken over a decade to get a baseball stadium in Miami...can you imagine what a disaster an Olympics would be there with those politicians involved???
September 21, 200718 yr Hosting the summer olympics in a place where it rains every day in summer is not the brightest thing to do.
September 21, 200718 yr Hosting the summer olympics in a place where it rains every day in summer is not the brightest thing to do. The umbrella and rain gear faction would assure Miami the Olympics if they ever made a bid.
September 21, 200718 yr If Miami were ever to host an Olympics it would be hosted by the whole state of Florida. It does rain here in the summer but only in the afternoon and usually passing showers. I know Florida was trying to get a bid for the 2012 games before NYC won the bid for the right to bid with the rest of the world. I would love to see an Olympics game here but I doubt it would ever coincide with a Marlins stadium. A Marlins stadium is a pressing issue, a NOW issue, an Olympic games wouldnt be happening here atleast until 2016 or 2020 IF it ever happened, which is highly unlikely.
September 21, 200718 yr We would be able to bid for 2016 but I doubt it even then honestly. It will go to more "well known" cities then us around the world and even for the US bids.
September 22, 200718 yr These ideas of your's are something. How about an all-you-can-eat ticket at the Miami Olympics!!

Yet you take the time off from your busy day of playing video games to bash him. But I have to agree with your comment. Now go back over to the little table, before someone tans your little bottom, and let the adults talk.

I didn't know Miami was even in the bidding. I doubt very much any Olympics are ever in our great state. The political environment just isn't right. But if we could get a stadium built it probably mean Miami would host some of the World Basball(name right??) games whenever they happen again.
September 23, 200718 yr Thread seems to be a good place for off the wall questions/thoughts. So let me go really off the wall... A retractable domed stadium needs more space from what I understand. I'm not an engineer so I'll just take everyone's word for that. So instead of doing a retractable dome why not do something like the Az Cardinals did. A fixed domed place where the field is moveable. From what I have seen it only takes a couple hours to move the field, self contained for irrigation, move it out for sun, move it in to play games, and the space it took up outside then becomes parking. It's not like it would have to be moved between every game. I don't know if it would work, but it looks cool as heck on paper.

Now go back over to the little table, before someone tans your little bottom, and let the adults talk. I'm sorry, there is NOTHING legitimate about the question. This is one of the many questions that are asked by this poster that are random and off the wall and just plain ridiculous. For starters, the first premise is that "baseball has to be brought back to the Olympics." Then there's the fact that it is being "proposed" that Miami hosts (not bids, but hosts) an Olympic games in 12 years, meaning that a stadium won't even be ready and done until 2020, and finally that because it is an Olympic stadium, it is free! No sit down and read all those ideas together. That question is as ridiculous as, "Why don't the Marlins just sign A-Rod for '08 so attendance goes up?" Finally, I wish I had time in the day to play video games! I barely have enough time in the day to get the things I need to get done finished!

Tampa/Orlando were eliminated in the first round of votes, and the 2012 Games went to London.
