Posted October 26, 200717 yr Since I've been on the board, we have never really had consistent NBA discussion throughout the season. There are a ton of NBA fans on here so I think this thread will have no problem being useful over the course of a season. Season starts next Tuesday with two games on TNT, Blazers @ Spurs and Rockets @ Lakers. :| I'm really looking forward to the season.
October 26, 200717 yr For the Heat, I guess it all comes down to how healthy Dwyane Wade's knee and shoulder are going to be. Something must be going on, because I haven't heard a word on how his rehab is going and when they expect him back. I know they originally said he would miss the first two weeks of the season, but I think some people believe otherwise.

How are NBA regular season threads usually handled?
October 26, 200717 yr Im hoping to see big things from the magic this year. However the east has gotten a lot better this offseason so it will be tough
October 26, 200717 yr Great thread, I will be a regular on here. My East predictions are 1. Bulls 2. Celtics 3. Heat 4. Pistons 5. Cavaliers 6. Magic 7. New Jersey 8. Toronto This could change very soon though. This is as competitive as the East has been in years, and #8 might be #1, and #1 could might as well be #8. Washington is the only team I didnt list that has a clear shot at making the playoffs. The rest, meh
October 26, 200717 yr How are NBA regular season threads usually handled? I just handled it. So we're covering the entire season, including every Heat game, in this one thread, creating a behemoth like the Chat. thread?
October 26, 200717 yr Rays - chill dude. I predict Dallas ... does well? Maybe doesn't choke in the playoffs? Whatever they do, go Mavs for me.
October 26, 200717 yr We could probably make individual game threads for the Heat like weve been doing with the Panthers. That wouldnt hurt. But for everything else, theres Master Card.., I mean this thread
October 26, 200717 yr I finally have a reason to look foward to the NBA season...... Go Celtics.. Its been awhile hasnt it? I can't remember the last time I thought we had a legitimate chance to go deep into the playoffs. The Celtics have a big man. Long time comin.
October 26, 200717 yr Rays - chill dude. I predict Dallas ... does well? Maybe doesn't choke in the playoffs? Whatever they do, go Mavs for me. I was just curious. Relax, bro.
October 26, 200717 yr This works great for the college bball thread because there are so many fans of so many different teams (FFIPA alone is a fan of like half of D-I). At some point this season, someone's going to whine about how we're talking too much about the Heat. But whatever. For the Heat, it's all about staying healthy. Of course, I'll watch most of the games, but the regular season is so meaningless, it's hard to get that excited about it.
October 26, 200717 yr So are we doing the individual Game Thread for the Heat or what? I think its idea. Check out the Panthers ones
October 26, 200717 yr ESPN is predicting Dorell Wright will be our starting SF on Opening Day They're also predicting the Heat won't make the playoffs. They can suck it.
October 27, 200717 yr Sources: Chicago still the most likely preference for Bryant The Kobe Bryant-to-Chicago trade talks are very real, and they've been real for a while. The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have been having daily discussions about Bryant trade possibilities for at least the past week, with Bryant's no-trade clause throwing a unique wrench into the situation, according to sources. The Lakers are asking for a package built around Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah, which is more than Chicago is willing to surrender. Also, Bryant would not want to play in Chicago if the Bulls surrendered all four of those players, believing there would not be enough talent left to compete for a championship, and he would veto that trade even if the Bulls and Lakers were both in favor of it. Further complicating matters is the division within the upper echelon of the Lakers front office, a house divided between the competing desires of owner Jerry Buss, his son, Jim, daughter Jeanie (and her boyfriend, coach Phil Jackson) and general manager Mitch Kupchak. According to sources, one faction seems more determined than ever to part with Bryant, while others still are hanging onto the belief that Bryant can still be persuaded to stay in Los Angeles. Bryant sat out the Lakers' final exhibition game Friday night in Las Vegas after injuring his right wrist in the Lakers' previous game. It has become an accepted fact around the Lakers that Bryant still wishes to be traded, and two sources with direct knowledge of the ongoing trade discussions said Bryant's preferred -- and most likely -- destination remains Chicago. So while the NBA's only no-trade clause gives Bryant a substantial amount of leverage in determining his future, it also is hampering the Lakers in their efforts to get something approaching fair value for arguably the best player in the league. One source said the Bulls' supposed opposition to including Deng in any deal had been overstated in recent media reports. A source told ESPN.com that the likelihood of a Bryant trade before opening night seemed higher a few days ago than it does now, and a deal going down sometime before the end of November now seemed more likely. But the situation remained fluid, and with other teams trying to lobby the Bryant camp to get on the list of his acceptable destinations, the trade possibilities surrounding Bryant only figured to increase in the days leading up to Tuesday night's start of the NBA season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3082513
October 28, 200717 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3083800 Phil Jackson is questioning Kobe's commitment. Well, when Jerry Buss is openly talking trade...
