October 29, 200718 yr how can you guys be happy for the guy??? Not only is he responsible for the worst meltdown season in Marlins history (nice .236 BA), but we were also forced to trade away potentially one of the best pitchers in the history of the game in order to unload his grotesque contract. If not for Hanley Ramirez i would have to say Mike Lowell would be the biggest POS in baseball :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol That 143 million dollar payroll is laughable..congrats to the Boston Red Sox, large contributor to baseball's worst problem

October 29, 200718 yr He held the Marlins hostage to sign that 'grotesque' contract! :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol Good for you Lowell. Even if we don't bring you back I hope you cash in big time in your first spin through free agency. The contract wasnt horrible for the player we signed it to. But he decided to take a huge crap on our trust in his abilities.

October 29, 200718 yr I can't f***ing stand KFC Millar off the team but I'll never throw his ass under the bus ever because he was part of THE 25. The guy could take a sh*t on my grandma and I'd still buy him the beer of his choice. Guys that win you rings always deserve your respect.
October 29, 200718 yr Mike Lowell was not a throw-in for that deal. He was the reason the deal happened.

So that's why Damon got boo'd on his return to Fenway? :whistle
October 29, 200718 yr Mike Lowell was not a throw-in for that deal. He was the reason the deal happened. So you say that the Sox were all... Sox: "Yeah, give us Lowell!" Marlins: "No way, unless you take Beckett." Sox: "Nah, weh cahn't dooh thaht! Cahr, pahrk, Sawks." Lowell: "Do it" Sox: "Ok. Wickid Ahwesome."

So that's why Damon got boo'd on his return to Fenway? :whistle Going to the Yankees is totally different and I've always said I would have clapped for him in his first at bat. The fanbase doesn't represent me nor do I represent the fanbase. I'm talking about my personal feelings.

I think what he's saying is if Lowell didn't suck an ungodly amount of ass we'd never have had to trade Josh; hard to argue with that one, especially since Beckett made less in '06 and '07 than Dontrelle. *vomit*

October 29, 200718 yr Beckett got rob! :mad In the era where a sweep can have four different starters, there's no way a starting pitcher gets the MVP in a sweep. Maybe Becks really was the throw-in in the trade. :mischief
October 29, 200718 yr FIU Alum Mike Lowell. We can't forget Coral Gables high....South Florida should be super happy for Mikey Lowell!!!!
October 29, 200718 yr Congrats on winning the MVP... So happy for this guy... i thought was gonna be over a couple of years ago... way to bounce back...
October 29, 200718 yr Some of you are complete a**holes. We should be happy for someone who wore the teal and black with as much class as Lowell did. He was one of the few players we had between 98 and 2002. We should be forever grateful to anyone who contributed to the 2003 championship. It was a run that will never be duplicated by a Marlins roster. Never will someone who doesn't even know you exist contribute to such a positive memory in your lives.
October 29, 200718 yr I can't believe some of these comments I am reading out of so called Marlin fans. Your throwing the guy under the bus for having ONE bad season AND blaming the fact he was dealt as HIS FAULT? You do not think in any way the reason he is no longer with us is b/c of OUR CHEAP f***ING OWNER. Some of you need to stop being such Debbie Downer's and show some respect to a team who completley dominated the playoffs.
October 29, 200718 yr Lowell's contract wasn't a bad contract at all. It was $32 million over 4 years. That's pretty fair for the player he is and he had 3 good years and one bad one. His OPS+ over the contract was 109.

October 29, 200718 yr Don't worry South Florida. Lowell grew up in Miami, attended college in Miami, and spent the majority of his career in Miami. BUT, his heart is already in Boston after two years.
