November 5, 200717 yr Cleo Lemon to remain Dolphins' starting quarterback Associated Press 1:01 PM EST, November 5, 2007 DAVIE - Cleo Lemon will remain the Dolphins' No. 1 quarterback when Miami plays against Buffalo on Sunday. Coach Cam Cameron announced the move Monday, ending speculation that rookie John Beck would get his first NFL start for the winless Dolphins. "We have two guys who don't have a lot of experience," Cameron said. "We're going to need them both." Trent Green started the first five games, but his season ended Oct. 20 when he went on injured reserve following his second severe concussion in 13 months. The Dolphins have lost their last three games with Lemon as the quarterback. Beck was the first quarterback the Dolphins drafted in the first or second round since Dan Marino.
November 5, 200717 yr Ah, I can't help but assume that Beck will get some PT in the 2nd half or something
November 5, 200717 yr WACK!!!!!!!!! Cameron might be thinking Cleo Lemon next year. I get the feeling that Cameron sees Cleo as next year starting QB...
November 5, 200717 yr Either they see Cleo as the starter for next year and beyond or they want Beck to start his first game next year so he can make all of his mistakes then and keeping the team crappy for another year.
November 5, 200717 yr why... were 0-8 why would you not let your 1rd pick and future QB get his feet wet now when were 0-8 and if he messes up it wouldnt matter instead of later... Unless he's looked horrible in practice i dont see why not.....
November 5, 200717 yr It has been rumored earlier on the station that in a meeting Wayne said he would like to see the kid and Cam said Cleo gives them the best chance to win. I dont recall who it was on Friday, but he said some of the Dolphins guys are more concerned about not finishing 0-16 and being known as the team that finished 0-16 than setting up their future.
November 5, 200717 yr This is just ridiculous. I can't figure this one out at all. Is he coaching to save his job or something? People keep saying if he doesn't win a game, he'll get fired. Is that what he's afraid of? I wasn't in favor of firing him. I am now. This is entirely inexcusable, and I don't want this moron as my team's HC. I'm not demanding his firing, but I'm just saying if they do fire him, it certainly won't bother me. No one capable of making a decision this bad should be leading an NFL team.

I was actually supportive of Cam but after this Im really not going to give a crap if he's fired.

But starting a quarterback that has no future with this team over a quarterback that has to be scouted in order for us to know what we have in him going forward or if we have to target Brohm is pure, grade A stupidity.
November 5, 200717 yr Anyone think that Cam might be doing this as a ploy to keep his job longer? If 2008 rolls along and we haven't seen Beck play, it gives him leverage to say that he hasn't seen whether his plan for the future is viable.

If 2008 rolls along and we haven't seen Beck play, it gives him leverage to say that he hasn't seen whether his plan for the future is viable. I definitely think that's what's going on here. I don't know if his scheming is as complex as all that...he may just think he needs to win a game to keep his job, and maybe he thinks Cleo Lemon gives us the best chance at winning. There's no other way to understand this, though. He has to be doing this for himself and not for the franchise.
