From what I've heard the major downfall with that machine is the RAM, HD and Battery are sealed up like an ipods.

I wish I could play with someone's Mac laptop for a week or so to see if I would actually consider buying one.

Go to the Apple Store at Aventura Mall.

Serious negatives, for sure. Might as well beef up the warranty.

Galleria in Ft Lauderdale for another option.

Towne Center in Boca is another option as well.

I'm sure Mall of America in Minny has one too, SO THERE!!!

MacBook Air has no removable battery. That's passable for my iPod and the iPhone, but to hell with that in a Laptop. Take it to the Apple store every 6 months for a new battery. Yay.

I don't know what is considered the norm, but I've never had to remove my battery from my Sony Vaio after 2+ years.

Apple batteries have been known to weaken easily and need replacement after like a year (from what I hear. I don't have the money for a MacBook). I know it's happened to all 3 of my iPods.

Oh. I've never had that problem with either of my ipods. And I don't personally know anyone that has encountered that issue, either.

Then again, I have only have two friends (one is my mommy).

I wasn't trying to "one-up" you. Just trying to help. Sorry.

It's quite a widespread problem. They have created a rather large market for batteries on the net. Just type in "ipod batteries" in either eBay or Google to see what I mean.

Also, here is a short article about it on wikipedia.

I'm sure you don't let it drain to 0% power. That's how you end up having to remove your battery usually.

I have it on the charger all the time, unless I'm watching a movie on my bed...and then, wait...no, I still have it on the charger.

My daughter works for Apple and this is all she's talked about for at least a month. Everyone is pumped.

The Falls in South Miami-Dade as well. :mischief

I dont like that the battery, RAM and HD are sealed up. Reminds me of my first Packard Bell in 1992 where everything was basically stuck to the mother board and you couldn't upgrade anything.

I do like the look and how thin it is. I just hope they improve the other things in the future.

I have been a lifelong MAC user, so I was going to see what others thought of the new Macbook Air. It seems like a waste of 3,000 dollars to me. Especially since it comes with nothing, its basically just really thin... anyone agree?

Except it's $1800.

I was looking at the solid-state harddrive option. So it is a waste of money to spend 3,100. 1,800 I guess you can make an excuse, but buy a macbook pro at the price....

The 1.8GHz with 64GB solid-state hard drive starts at $3,100

i wouldnt recommend buying this it may be thin and look nice but theres far cheaper options that are just as good for what you would be using this for.

people need to understand that a 1.6 with 80gig standard drive is going to be so slow it won't be worth using. The reason the premium jumps in price is because it is what you need. The point of the ultraportables is to have long battery life and to be sleek. While it has almost 2 more inches in screensize than the vaio, it will be pointless unless you have the premium. the SSD drive is made for safer use, more dependable use, longer battery life, and faster use.

add the specs between a macbook and macbook air

MacBook Air (13.3" screen)> - $1799

Height: 0.16(corners) - 0.76 inch(base)

Width: 12.8 inches

Depth: 8.94 inches

Weight: 3.0 pounds

MacBook (13.3" screen) - $1099

Height: 1.08 inches

Width: 12.78 inches

Depth: 8.92 inches

Weight: 5.0 pounds

2 pounds and thats about it. It really isnt as amazing as they make it seem.
