October 25, 200322 yr Remember mid-season when many fans were saying we need to trade him because he isn't pitching, he's throwing? Who would have thought that we'd be in the World Series and he could be our MVP?
October 25, 200322 yr yes, he has pitched great in the WS... but how about the other postseason series?
October 25, 200322 yr Penny pitched like garbage in the NLCS and NLDS. He threw 'ok' in game 1. He finally pitched an entire game in Game 5.
October 25, 200322 yr I think what we have seen out of Brad Penny is his full potential! For whatever reason, he had his rough outings throughout the season and even in the first two series of the playoffs. But Game 1 and Game 5 both proved that Brad is a big game pitcher and hopefully he can keep it up through next year.
October 25, 200322 yr Our pitchers have matured leaps and bounds in this postseason. Looking good if we can sign them all back.
October 25, 200322 yr I remember in June/July when some people wanted him in the bullpen... :lol Proudly raises hand.
October 25, 200322 yr Our pitchers have matured leaps and bounds in this postseason. Looking good if we can sign them all back. Could you imagine our starting rotation if we sign them all back and get a healthy A.J Burnett back?!? :wow Burnett Beckett Penny Willis Pavano/Redman
October 25, 200322 yr Willis would go behind Pavano and Redman, sorry. Beckett Burnett Redman Penny Pavano Willis (extra starter or bullpen)
October 25, 200322 yr I seriously think we may go with a 6-man roatation when Burnett returns. I would agree. BTW, we start the season at home vs. Montreal as the prelim. sched. stands right now.

October 25, 200322 yr Penny coudn't have found a better time to discover some of that Marlins Magic for himself. all our pitchers have great potential and it ihas really been showing in the post season. lets hope they come out full force next season willis is too wild but i think he will find some form as he matures next year.
October 25, 200322 yr oooo happy b-day cape fish. wouldn't a marlin's WS title be the most wonderful birthday gift?
October 25, 200322 yr oooo happy b-day cape fish. wouldn't a marlin's WS title be the most wonderful birthday gift? yes, it would. Check the game thread for my rant on this topic. lol
October 25, 200322 yr I seriously think we may go with a 6-man roatation when Burnett returns. that is idiotic.
October 25, 200322 yr Penny coudn't have found a better time to discover some of that Marlins Magic for himself. That's what I was thinking. willis is too wild but i think he will find some form as he matures next year. That's his biggest problem: Inexperience.
October 25, 200322 yr I seriously think we may go with a 6-man roatation when Burnett returns. that is idiotic. I agree, Das. Can you say "Trade Bait"?
October 25, 200322 yr willis is too wild but i think he will find some form as he matures next year. That's his biggest problem: Inexperience. yea i was never really on that bandwagon. i criticized him more than anything. don't get me wrong. i saw a future superstar in him, but i knew his unorthodox pitching form was going to get the better of him sooner or later. i think he has been straightening out more though. he should be amazing once he gets comfortable. they have been working with him a lot.
October 25, 200322 yr I think that Dontrelle pitching so many innings this year threw him off a bit. Look for him to maybe do better next year with a full year of major league experience finally under his belt.
October 25, 200322 yr And a spring training with Rosenthal. It's been said that his mechanics have been better this world series (compared to the NLDS and NLCS.) I just think its his nerves that are getting him into trouble. Kinda like his late-season troubles up in the count. He wanted to just to throw the ball harder and get the strikeout and ended up losing his game plan.
October 25, 200322 yr i dont know if its nerves that are messing up his mechanics exactly. i think he is just trying too hard to live up to what everyone expects of him. he just needs to relax and not overthrow the ball. work on his form. spring training will do him loads of good. i cannot wait to see AJ on the mound again. next season will be so much fun but this one isnt over yet. i am so excited about tonight. i am almost sad about the season ending though.
