Against a lineup that isn't inept, Hendrickson would have gotten mashed. Thank god for the Brewers and for the bullpen.

Maybe, but must you be a Debbie Downer after every game?

They're hitting .206 in their last 209 ABs. At this point, they'd make Joe Klink look like Cy Young.

Ok, but they won so who cares? Hendrickson has looked good in most of his starts this year anyway.

Yeah and he also has the reputation for being extremely inconsistent. If you'd take off the teal colored glasses, you'd realize that this is not a good sign.

For a second, I thought it read Colonel Klink

What is it with you and "teal colored glasses"? Anyway, this is a different year and Mark had laser eye surgery in the offseason so we'll see if he remains inconsistent or is truly a better pitcher now that he can actually see.

"would have" and "if" don't count in life.

It's all about the FACTS...we won. :thumbup

Also, Hendrickson made those pitches. Bases loaded, 1 out with Braun up for example...he threw a perfect pitch, and jammed Braun.

He struggled tonight, but he deserves a minimum amount of credit, for making pitches, at the most critical times tonight.

Agreed. He gutted it out and kept us in the game and lead. Acceptable job.

Of course it wouldn't make any sense at all to give credit to our pitching for some of those stats. We took 5 of 6 from them this season. With good pitching. They were up 4 runs 2 times over the Astros (even if they did end up losing) before they made the trip here, so their bats must have been doing okay at some point.

But no. The credit for our wins goes to their inept bats. Sorry if I'm not 100% behind you on this one.

Why do I get the opinion that if we go into a 20 game losing streak you will be throwing a party???

Of course it's possible that he just had an off night. And contrary to popular belief, I'd love it if he did. But the evidence to suggest that he's going to slide again is there. He's been there before. Numerous times.

Those were their numbers for this month coming into last night's game. So of those 209 ABs, only 61 of them came against the Marlins. Minus this series and the series earlier this year in Milwaukee, they'd be hitting .250. Including those numbers, they're hitting .239. So our entire staff didn't make that much of a difference, let alone our starting rotation.

Right now, that team couldn't hit the water if it fell out of a boat.

I want to disagree with Benched but I'm not sure enough he's wrong to do so. I think it will be telling how well the Brewers do over their next couple of series (and obviously how Marlins pitching fares in their next two).

It's one of those chicken and egg things. We're winning because they aren't hitting, or we're winning because our pitching is shutting them down and out offense is outscoring them. The fan in me wants to go with the latter, but I'd be a liar if I said I knew definitively which it was.

Okay. I can agree in principal with ya on this post. But actually I could care in the least how the Brew Crew does in their next few series. Chicken and egg thing is irrelevant, IMO. The first series vs them on paper we were well matched, and we took them. This time? We were the better team on paper and we swept them. I care more how the Marlins react to the teams they have to play next. If they take advantage of situations that favor them or if they stoop to the levels of those they play that may not be as good. Beating the teams we should beat and having a winning record at home are big improvements for us. Remember last year? Another step in the right direction would be keeping a winning record vs NL East teams. At least keep it near a .500 record.

So far this season has been exciting and alot of fun. I'm gonna ride the wave as long as it lasts.

How about giving Freddi Gonzalez some credit? Seems like no one ever does.

Ever since he put this new lineup together...we're 5-1.

Also, how about a sweep without our best clutch hitter in the lineup (Willingham)? And winning, smoothly, tonight without Willingham AND Mike Jacobs?

:thumbup

Give Fredi some credit? What is he some kind of baseball mastermind because he made the obvious lineup move that half the people on this board were calling for since before the season started? I guess I deserve some credit then too.

Don't forget that the only reason he made the move was because of Willingham's injury. Had Josh not gone down, we'd be looking at an identical lineup. Any moron with a shred of common sense would have made the same move in his situation. If he is such a genius, and knew this lineup would result in a winning formula, then what took him so long to make the change? The amusing thing is I haven't heard a word from the "Keep Hanley at leadoff" advocates now that the team is winning with him in the 3 hole and he has 7 hits in his last 11 AB's out of there. Now if the team had gone 2-5 over their last 7 games, the I told you so's would be raining down and Fredi would be a moron for making the shift.

It seems like managers are given way too much blame when their team loses and way too much credit when their team wins, but that's just my opinion. Don't forget that its the players out there who are winning the ball game, not Fredi with his "masterful" baseball insight. While I agree that Fredi has improved as a manager since 07, he still has alot to prove to me before I even consider him an average manager.

True that...I've been hating Uggla batting 2nd since last year.

But...my point is...it seems all he gets is criticism. So when he does something right...it should go both ways.
