Breaking Point

Featured Replies

I've reached my breaking point with this franchise. We just don't get it. We throw out sacrificial lambs twice every fifth day. We stick with sh*t way too long when there are other CLEAR options within the organization. We wait for our weaknesses to be exploited and hurt us before we do anything about it. Instead of fixing the problems with this team Beinfest waits until these weaknesses hurt us and we are out of contention. Preemptive strikes will make this team better. Sitting on your ass and waiting for these weaknesses to hurt us do nothing. Beinfest is great at off-season moves and sucks at managing a roster during the season. It also does not help we are managed by a turd.

Fine tune that promise in AA. It's called DEVELOPMENT. You develop young players, not sacrafice them.

And who would you have pitch every 5th day? If it wasn't Tucker, it would have been Volstad or some other young pitcher. There wasn't any good options available. Sure, they could have gone out and found another Hendrickson, but everyone would have complained and yelled to call a young pitcher from AA instead. This is what happens when you are missing 3 of your top starting pitchers. The Marlins are lucky to have survived this long with Tucker and Hendrickson starting every 5 days.

The good news is that Tucker is on his way back to Carolina and Johnson will be back for the next series.

I know it's painful, but I think we need to be patient until JJ, Anibal, and Mitre return. The bullpen was solid in the beginning, I just think they are horribly overworked. They probably overachieved a bit, but I don't think they are as bad as they have shown recently. But there's no denying the fact they've been terrible lately.

Honestly, I think Tucker could thrive as a setup man or closer.

I'm so sick of Fredi. I hate say it, but we need a guy like Charlie Manuel (or even a Piniella or Oz Guillen) in charge. I just don't see Fredi disciplining anyone. Call guys out for not hustling, or just not doing their job (BULLPEN). The other team having "last ups" is a piss poor excuse for last night's loss. Don't insult us, Fredi.

Last night, and even tonight, is living proof that the Marlins' bats can't and won't make up for the awful pitching and defense.

That stuff is so overrated. Discipline?? These are grown men. Having a manager scream at them to play better isn't an effective way to get results. Besides, it's not as if they aren't out there hustling. I haven't seen any player dogging it. What I see is bad pitching and what good is yelling at Joe Nelson going to do exactly? I'm pretty sure that he is trying to get outs. Yelling at mediocre pitchers isn't going to make them better pitchers.

Can't we just admit we don't have the talent on this team to win. The 1st half of the season just seems to be a mirage. I think the 100 loss season is far-fetched but the way the team is looking now, 90 losses is not out of the realm of possibility.

Its really sad, this could be such a successful franchise with wise management, and not with that cheap b*stard Loria.

I heard the Rays are still looking for bandwagon fans. Go hop on that if you don't like the direction this team is going.

Amazing how people overreact to a few losses in a row. This series has sucked...no doubt, but if Gregg doesn't blow saves the past two games this team would be on its way to 90 wins, but with the two blown saves they are bound for 90 losses. I know this series has been tough to watch, but this team isn't nearly as bad as they have looked the past three games...just as they weren't as good as they looked when they were 10 games over .500 last month.

A fair-weather fan ? It is 11:10 on a Saturday nite and I am on a Marlins message board, and I am a fair-weather fan ? Just because I don't wear teal & black sun-glasses like many of you here, but actually look at this with my eyes and see this is a really mediocre bunch of talent.

They have just recently been schooled by the Rays to the tune of 5 games to 1, and now are in the midst of losing to the Rockies for the 3rd time in a row.

Both of those teams have what is considered to be "up and coming talent". The Rockies cleared out their team 3 years ago and went with young talent much like we did. They went to the World Series last year. The Rays look like they are the team to beat in the AL as they have the best record, and what many consider the best young talent in MLB. Do you think its coincidence that those two teams have beaten the Marlins 8 games to 1 so far this year ? Don't you think that might mean their is a gap between their talent and ours ?

Pointing that out, and being unhappy about that, and being sad by these facts makes me a fair-weather fan ? I don't know about you but I am hurt, angry and sad all at once. I love the Marlins, but I am not happy about the way this team is run, and by the ownership. I am not someone that can just change allegiances at the drop of the hat. I have 14 years invested in Marlin fandom, but I am also a realist.

WE DON'T HAVE IT. The talent is lacking on this team, especially in the pitching. If pointing that out makes me a fair-weather fan then so be it.

Read my other post. 8 and 1 against really good up and coming teams (Rays and Rockies). There is no mistake why we have 1 win against them, and its because we just don't have the talent, and that my friends is at the feet of Admin Beinfest. You can continue to call him a great GM, but I think he is mediocre at best and we could do a lot better. His drafts especially at the top, are really dung-heaps. How many of his 6 1st round picks are starting for this team ? 1 I believe and that is Hermida, and he if he was a FA tomorrow, I doubt he would be a really hot commodity.

thats not true, injuries have killed the rotation... remember thats why hendrickson was signed in the first place

Johnson

Olsen

Mitre

Nolasco

Sanchez

.... not bad.

The Rockies are 14 games under .500. Give me a break.

Who represented the NL in the World Series last year ? :whistle

They have UNDERACHIEVED this year, but are showing up against our mediocre talent. And I would give them a better shot at winning their division than I would give the Marlins of winning the East.

b/c the NL West sucks :whistle

What does this year have to do with last? :whistle

Who was the Marlins GM when they last WON (unlike the Rockies) the World Series? :whistle

3 of those are coming of major injuries. You really are putting your eggs into their basket ? Its unfortunate for the franchise, but lets be realistic here, you seriously would trust arms with major injury histories ?

They had better hope that Johnson and Mitre make it back or this franchise is really effed, because Miller is just mediocre at best, and not the franchise pitcher they needed to have in a deal in which they gave away the talent they gave up.

ok, breathe into a paper bag

...what would you like them to do with a f*ing 20 million dollar payroll

first of all your missing 3 (*)

second of all it's $21,836,500

And who put together most of the talent on that 2003 team ? Most came from Dombrowski, who by the way rebuilt the Tigers from scratch and 3 years later they were in the WS....right ? Beinfest walked into a job where he had most of the major pieces in place, and just needed to make a tweak here and there, and VIOLA, a winner.

This time, this whole thing is his baby, every last one of them. Take his position players, they are his draftees, FA's, and trades. They look like a .500 team at best. The others have done it with a lot of homegrown draft talent in the field. Beinfest can't claim any as draft choices except for Willingham, Andino & Hermida. The Colorado team tonight started 5 players drafted by the Rockies. This is where Beinfest is weakest, and he needs to step up the drafts, or this team will never be able to progress.
