The other guys in the Cabrera Willis trade

Featured Replies

What's the deal with the other guys players in the Cabrera/Willis trade:

Badenhop sucked

Rabelo sucked

De La Cruz has been OK in AAA

Trahern sucks in AAA

Do you think these guys will ever be good, or is this trade basically Miller and Maybin for Willis and Cabrera

Trades take awhile to assess, but for all the troubles D-train is having I think that in a couple of years the Marlins will look like winners in this deal.

As for the players you've stated have sucked most should be at AA, yet Badenhop and De La Cruz have both been in the Show this season. Give this trade a little more time .

I'm definitely not questioning the trade, I'm just curious what's the deal with these other guys. It just seems as though these other guys were throw-ins. Rabelo is 28 and seems to have 0 value. Badenhop looks useless. De La Cruz seems like he has potential and I don't know much about Trahern

They kind of were throw-ins, especially Rabelo.

I don't know about the other guys, but Badenhop did win minor league player of the year with the Tigers once. And De La Cruz can be good if he ever learns control at the major league level.

Trahern, if I remember correctly, had a pretty good spring with us.

the kid is in his low twenties and has tons of potential. You call him useless? C'mon man that is just a dumb thing to say for anyone who claims they know anything about baseball.

First of all moron, I said he looks useless, as in, thus far he hasn't shown much potential. At the major league level, he looked overmatched. He's almost 26 so he's a bit older than the the other pitchers in the trade. Why don't read what people say before you go and attack them with your pseudo-baseball knowledge

"thus far he hasn't shown much potential." That is the whole point. He HAS shown potential but the potential has not been realized just yet. He needs to work on his control a bit, if he can get that back and he can be successful in the bigs.

ohhh and I will just ignore the moron comment, what are you 12 years old?

Both of you's are really not paying attension, come on guys talk about how are team is playing and actually having a great chance at the playoffs this year, i watch every game this and alot of triple1 games, The trade was really for maybin and miller anybody else was just prospects okay so let it go if one of them become really good then we stole them, but badenhop will be good and miller and maybin! Let it go guys GO MARLINS!!

The trade was basically Maybin and Miller for Cabrera because Willis has been terrible. It's questionable whether he'll ever be the same again.

Not every player acquired is going to wow and amaze everyone the first year they are acquired.

exactly, give these guys some time, De la Cruz was in single A when we got him, Trahern is a work in progress and Badenhop did show flashes of potential when he was starting and in the relief appearances.

I am worried about the strikeout rate of Maybin, Center Fielders should strike out less and be a speed guy with some exceptions like Cody Ross, I still believe Miller has not had enough time in the minors to polish some of his pitches, he needs to be brought up the right way, the Tigers only gave him 3 starts in the minors in his couple of years with the team. Miller can become a star given the right pitching coach and mentors around him

He is Preston Wilson Jr. perhaps?

I really liked the intensity I saw from De La Cruz in ST. Sitting on the bench and studying the hitters and pitchers until the very last out if he wasn't getting into the game. I believe he will be fine. I would have liked to seen him sent to AA tho.

As far as Maybin goes... His K rate seems to have gone down alot. With the exception of his last game before being put on the DL. He is progressing.
