August 10, 200817 yr http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=fla The marlins are the first team ever in the national league to have 4 infielders to hit 20+ HRs in one season. The last team to do it was the rangers in 04.
August 10, 200817 yr If Cantu and Jake get hot, and Hanley and Uggla just keep pace somewhat, we could have 4 with 30+.

August 10, 200817 yr very impressive. Think they can get a whole team with 20+ (starting infield/outfield)
August 10, 200817 yr very impressive. Think they can get a whole team with 20+ (starting infield/outfield) You forgot catcher. But no way Hammer gets to 20 either. Cody will probably get there, and Hermida has a good shot.
August 10, 200817 yr It appears to me as if we will have 3 at 30 and 1 at 25 by the end of the season, as long as we get out of this slump.

Yeah no on the catcher, but the only reason Hammer aint there is because, obviously, he is stinking up horribly after coming back from injury. And if you really want to argue it... if John Baker started all year from start to finish, there is a chance he gets 20, just by cross multiplying his HRs.

I would guess Cantu. Not saying he lacks power, but he generally doesn't seem to swing for the fences like the rest do. I mean even in his big year with Tampa he only hit 28, even though he drove in 117.

August 10, 200817 yr lol....nice record...but they're in third place. lol? I mean, I know we are a whole 2.5 back, but no need to be negative about everything.
August 10, 200817 yr lol....nice record...but they're in third place. The Mets had a 7 game lead with 17 games to go...The Phillies have a 2.5 game lead with 45 games to go...its not that hard to get back into first.
August 10, 200817 yr No, it just goes to show that the number of home runs hit doesn't make your team better. The Marlins and Phillies are both 1 and 2 in MLB in home runs, but neither team has had any consistency this year.

If it wasn't for terrible pitching in the 1st half, we would be in first.
August 10, 200817 yr 29 all around - except for catcher which doesn't seem possible would be cool. To have 3 guys maybe 4 hit 30 is also awesome.

This is a topic about a neat little record we achieved and some others we could pull off, can't we just enjoy that? Btw its not even a foregone conclusion that Hanley and Uggla reach 30. Uggla I would say yes, but that injury could have really messed his swing up. Hanley is too inconsistent to call it a sure thing. I honestly think the only guy sure to get to 30 is Jake, unless Fredi sits him a lot over the next 2 months.

I hope so but they've let me down lately :confused The crazy thing is, while I could see Hanley end up at 28 or 29, I could also just as easily see him go on an absolute tear and hit 40+. I have no idea with him. Uggla is the one I'm a little bit worried about, but hopefully he snaps out of it. He really seems to have changed his swing, and its not an improvement either, just seems to be fighting pitches off and unable to really get out in front of the fastball. If he returns to form, he'll also have an outside shot at 40 of course, he could just hit 5 or so the rest of August and then add 9 more in September, thats doable.

August 10, 200817 yr It fits that this team is on pace for both the franchise record in home runs and strikeouts for a season, but as long as we win i couldn't care less
