August 30, 200817 yr we already have an 09 closer out, so can we just say anybody but Gregg and we can all hold hands and sing koombya?
August 30, 200817 yr This would be the perfect time to see if Lindstrom would be able to cut it as a closer, with a month of the season left.
August 30, 200817 yr Joe Nelson! He has easily been the most dominant guy in the pen this year. An ERA under 2 with a K/9 above 10! I bet if he were closing all this year, the Marlins would be in 1st right now.

I bet if he were closing all this year, the Marlins would be in 1st right now. The only problem with that is you would never be able to count on him for the 4 out save, since he absolutely sucks with inherited runners. That said, with the way closers are used these days, why not? My only real reason against it is that I rather test out Lindstrom in that role, since he actually has a future here.

He did a great job tonight striking out Wright.

August 30, 200817 yr wow, i just say the replay of the marlins-mets games on ESPNEWS. when i saw the bases loaded and gregg pitching i knew something bad was going to happen or they wouldn't have showed it. then when cantu got that hit i thought we were going to tie but helms couldn't come through. i think that lindstrom would be the obvious choice but i picked tucker. i think he sucked as a starter but he could be a reliable relief pitcher and hopefully a good closer.

But as beautiful as that K was, before tonight he let 37% of all inherited runners score, making him the 2nd worst on the team and 74th out 213 pitchers in baseball.
