February 12, 200917 yr Where are they going to play Milledge when they already have a vastly supperior CFer? Corner OF, which then depletes his value, and questionable if his bat will hold there. He'd be more valuable in a trade. Holding onto a prospect when you already have a player at that position who's one year older, has one less year of service time, and is a better player, just because he's a good prospect makes no sense.

My point is, the Nats could've used their money for another position of need, considering they already had a surplus of OF'ers, and a 1B who's very solid, when healthy. Now what they have is another 1B/OF'er added to the surplus of 1B/OF'er to go along with no pitching.
February 12, 200917 yr What does that have to do with using milledge as trade bait? This has nothing to with Dunn. This has to do with the Dukes.

Well, with Milledge, it just seemed like you were saying he shouldn't even start at the big league level, and I basically disagreed b/c of his potential. "Below average defensively / can't hit for a corner OF spot"...while true now, might not be true in a year or two. He can hit.
February 12, 200917 yr Well, considering the Marlins could use a 4th OF'er...perhaps there might be a minor trade? Make a campaign to trade for Willingham back. :mis2

February 13, 200917 yr Why is there never love for Adam Dunn? yea the average is low and the defense isnt to great... but the guy hits 40 Home runs can get 100 rbi's and didnt he walk more than anybody else last season? I love Adam Dunn and i wish he would be a marlin, but instead the marlins are cheap f***s and he ends up going to a team in our very own division.
February 14, 200917 yr I'm happy for the Nats (I lived the last 3 years in DC). And despite all the obvious jokes about how they are overflowing with OF, the bottom line I think for them is that they needed someone to come in and provide serious power on the offensive side, and they got it with Dunn. This is a team that had the 3rd fewest HRs and the 2nd lowest SLG% in MLB last year, and that didn't have a single player hit over 14 HRs last year. That's not to say that the Nats don't have plenty of other needs, but this was their most glaring deficiency and so long as they keep Adam Dunn healthy, they will have done a a good job of addressing it, bringing in the biggest power bat in the FA market who is has been for years now a lock to hit 40 HRs each year.
