I know its March, but can they at least get the damn routine plays straight?

Andy Fox is beyond horrible, hell a little league coach could probably teach better infield fundamentals.

How could anyone on this forum possibly know that Andy Fox is a horrible defensive coach? How do you know what kind of fundamentals he preaches? Are you a member of the Marlins FO? There's only so many groundballs you can hit to a guy before you realize its not making a difference. This is exactly like firing a manager when a team is losing. Its a very annoying misconception when people don't understand that sometimes the PLAYERS are responsible for their flaws.

because the statistics back it up.

I mean whats the point of having coaches if its all on the players anyway? I mean just throw them out there and go from there. Why have spring training at all for that matter, its all on the players anyway.

I mean hell teams fire hitting coaches all the time because the overall runs produced is in the toilet. Pitching coaches too. You would think the same would apply to infield coaches. You cant fire the players so you have to fire the coaches, send a message and hope that a different voice will produce better results.

What statistics? You can't blame the defensive coach because a guy throws a two hopper into first base or doesn't get his glove down on a ground ball. This isn't little league.

And what does spring training have to do with this? I stated that there was no possible way of knowing that Andy Fox was a bad defensive coach and you replied that there was no point to spring training without coaches.

The statistics that show that since Fox's arrival we have had absolutely horrific infield defense.

The statistics that show that since Fox's arrival we have had absolutely horrific infield defense.

We've also had really bad players. Jacobs was the worst 1B in baseball which effects the entire infield, we haven't had a true center fielder, we've had a skeptical corner OF situation with Hammer, a hot/cold Hermida, and guys like Gonzo and Borchard, Cantu is a nightmare at 3B, Uggla just isn't very good at 2B, etc.

Hanley improved last year. That's really all I care about as he is the only full time player on the 2008 squad that probably has a longterm future here. And really, you have to suspect team defense goes way up with the new outfield alignment, fixing the infield corners (hopefully it is Cantu 1B, McPherson/Helms 3B), another year of growth with Hanley, and hopefully Uggla being closer to his 2007 version than 2008 version.

I don't think we can dump Andy Fox "completely" here (not saying you are, but just defending him somewhat), and suspect the team's defensive problems are fixed with merely acquiring another 'Perry Hill.' The coach doesn't play in the game. Players still have to perform. And we just have not had the players recently.

I agree its more the players than the coach.

but andy fox isnt really the greatest coach ever you know.

Coaches can only do so much, but that coach, aint very good...

The players got to be better on defense.

I'm already on notice that I'm awesome?

I never mentioned anything about mod stuff or banning you. This is what happens when you imply things. You fail.

Ok, Das... I seriously have to ask then... If you weren't talking about "Mod Stuff"... what on earth was he on notice for? It's quite clear that you guys aren't BFFs like Rabb and I who are going to the Panthers game tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*snuck into the message board for Rabb and Adriannelove's sakes*

Okay. Showing my internet ignorance once again. What is a BFF and what does going to a hockey game have to do with the Marlins?

1. BFF=Best Friends Forever

2. Everything :thumbup

3. Your Welcome :cool

LOL

1. Okay.

2. Don't see it, but okay.

3. Belated thanks.

Wow....sounds exactly like what I said.....that a bad defenseman, is a bad defenseman, yet I got pounded for saying it. LOL

No, you got pounded for saying some sh*t about errors and about how we were going to lose 100 games.
