Have you seen him pitch, though? As much as I've hated on his mechanics, I can't hate on his stuff. He looks ready right now, that slider is ridiculous. That would be one of the best pitches in baseball right now.

Im just saying what ive read about him. Also from watching the vids on him he seems to hit the glove most of the time and his stuff is nasty. But like others have said his arm could blow up soon.

I'd love to see Boras turn down let's say $15 million guaranteed (which is about $4 million higher than the current highest amateur deal which represents an enormous increase on its own) when this kid has never made any money in his life. Then have the kid sit out a year which does a lot of things, like hurt his development, more time for him to get injured, and to not make it to the big leagues faster further delaying his time until arbitration/free agency. These are enormous negatives. And also, look at Aaron Crow last year. That kid's agent should be getting sued by Crow for turning down $4+ million dollars just because they wanted to try and up slot him. This is textbook misrepresentation. Crow is losing millions of dollars because of this decision, even if he is still going to be a top 15 pick again in the 2009 draft and get a comparable deal. This isn't a high school player who can threaten college, and once he is drafted, Boras loses all his leverage in trying to get the team with the second of third pick to pay out a billion dollars for him.

 

This is not going to happen. Just like how everyone thought Boras was going to get Dice-K $100 million on top of the Red Sox's $52 million negotiations bid. Dice K got around $55 million. Same thing is going to happen with Strasburg. $14, 15, 16 guaranteed. I could see an INCENTIVES package getting to triple-quadruple what normal # 1 overall picks get, like if he comes out like Lincecum his base salary starts shooting up like crazy and have official opt outs of the contract and hit arbitration (Andrew Miller had that clause), but this kid is not getting $30 million guaranteed (this is your triple figure) out of the gates, let alone $50. If he gets a $30 million incentives package (which would be innings pitched, very easy incentives for pitchers) that's an enormous win for Boras.
