Posted May 21, 200915 yr "They're running on fumes," said Gonzalez, who noted roster moves are likely on Thursday. "We were worried about just one guy pitching both ends of a doubleheader. We had everybody pitch both ends, and that's got to be something unheard of." http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090520&content_id=4837824&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=fla I wonder who it will be. Any info?
May 21, 200915 yr Author Here is something on Fredo on Rotoworld... According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Alfredo Amezaga "likely will go to the disabled list if for no other reason to accommodate more pitching." Amezaga was diagnosed with a bone bruise on his left knee after undergoing an MRI on Monday. The Marlins may wait until Saturday to pull the trigger.

If we are going to "pull the trigger" then it has to be today. Our bullpen is half dead and we have Miller pitching which means the pen will probs have to work 3-4 innings or possibly more, unless they just keep him in regardless of how many runs he has given up - take one for the team!
May 21, 200915 yr These guys need to get back to what they were doing the first 2 weeks of the season. The Marlins forgot how to win games!!! The pitching is now inconsistent and the hitting has been inconsistent all year!
May 21, 200915 yr Without getting into specifics, Gonzalez said roster moves will be made on Thursday to bring in relief help. If the team is looking for left-handed relief help, Willie Collazo is a choice. The lefty last pitched on May 16, and he's 2-2 with a 5.61 ERA in 16 games for Triple-A New Orleans. Collazo was in Spring Training for the Marlins. Collazo has made two straight starts for New Orleans, and he's in line to start on Thursday. However, the Zephyrs are listing their Thursday game's starter as TBA. Another lefty possibility is David Davidson, who was claimed recently after opening the year with the Pirates' Indianapolis affiliate. Davidson has made 10 relief appearances. The Marlins may be thinking of placing Alfredo Amezaga on the disabled list, retroactive to May 17, to make room for a pitcher. Amezaga suffered a bone bruise to his left knee on Saturday night, and he will be examined again by team physician, Dr. Lee Kaplan, on Friday. http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/

I doubt they keep Miller in to take one for the team, considering he is coming off an injury. I was meaning in terms of runs, not pitch count. If say he gave up 5 or 6 runs in the first few innings he would normally be taken out, but maybe today they let him continue to roughly 100 pitches regardless of the runs due to the fact our pen is in an awful physical state.
May 21, 200915 yr Even though it hasn't been 10 days since he was sent down, can't they bring back Carlos Martinez since they would be DL-ing a player?
May 21, 200915 yr Even though it hasn't been 10 days since he was sent down, can't they bring back Carlos Martinez since they would be DL-ing a player? Yes. That article makes it sound like they want a lefty though, since all names mentioned were LHP.

May 21, 200915 yr Pinto please. I know it'll never happen, but one can always hope right? Amen to that!! Please send Pinto away until he can find the strike zone.
May 21, 200915 yr Pinto please. I know it'll never happen, but one can always hope right? Amen to that!! Please send Pinto away until he can find the strike zone. It's when he finds the strike zone he has problems. Last night, after he almost hit the first batter, like the prior night, it looked like he was aiming the ball rather than throwing. So he aimed some fat ones. Every contact was hard, lucky for us, a few were right at somebody. He only gets people when they help him out and swing at the pitches out of the zone.
May 21, 200915 yr Author Are you ready? Marlins recalled LHP David Davidson from Triple-A New Orleans. The Marlins just need warm bodies in the bullpen after their relief corps was decimated by Wednesday's doubleheader, the second-game of which went 13 innings. Don't expect Davidson to last long in Florida Marlins optioned outfielder Alejandro De Aza to Triple-A New Orleans. Collateral damage from Wednesday's doubleheader, which featured a 13-inning nightcap. The Marlins needed space to call up two pitchers. Florida currently has 14 pitchers and 11 position players Marlins selected the contract of RHP Cristhian Martinez from Double-A Jacksonville. The Marlins' bullpen decimated by Wednesday's doubleheader, the second-game of which went 13 innings. Florida is hoping starter Andrew Miller can go deep on Thursday, because the club is trying to abstain from using any of their relievers. If Miller must be pulled early, Martinez, a starter, would enter as the long reliever. Marlins placed infielder-outfielder Alfredo Amezaga on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17, with a left knee contusion. Amezaga will be examined further on Friday by a team physician. The move was not spurred as much by Amezaga's condition as it was the state of the team's bullpen after Wednesday's doubleheader. Needing roster space to accommodate the addition of two pitchers, the team placed Amezaga, who tweaked his knee on Saturday and hasn't played since, on the disabled list. All from rotoworld.
