June 25, 200917 yr Interesting. I wonder how James will drive the lane with Shaq plugging it up. I still don't think it gets LeBron a ring.
June 25, 200917 yr Even though I'm not an NBA fan, I'm still pretty knowledgeable of the game itself... and, it's going to be super interesting to see (although it should be rare) the Cavs put James/Ilgauskas/Shaq on the floor at the same time...
June 25, 200917 yr the suns never should of traded for shaq .......... that was their mistake they weren't going anywhere with him, so why pay the luxury tax for a lottery team? as for the cavs ....... i don't think this helps him - it clogs the lane where lebron can do a lot of his business, doesn't exactly help them in their weakest area on defense (movement and guarding the wings) and now makes them vulnerable to teams like boston who may want to P&R will them
June 25, 200917 yr Did Dywane Wade not win a ring with Shaq "clogging the lane"... howtf did Wade "do a lot of his business"...
June 25, 200917 yr Helps Cleveland ALOT, but I'm not worried. I still think Orlando and Boston can take Cleveland.
June 25, 200917 yr If I'm Lebron, I'm pissed... Why? He just got himself a bigman. Or should I say a hugeman.
June 25, 200917 yr i don't get this trade for the suns. it's not like they're going to save money because there is no way wallace is going to retire and give up 14 million. kerr is a horrible GM and the last couple years when they were making the playoffs they didn't bother to build for the future through the drafts and now they're screwed because their stars are old (except amare).
June 25, 200917 yr Did Dywane Wade not win a ring with Shaq "clogging the lane"... howtf did Wade "do a lot of his business"... No because Dwyane Wade knows how to find his team mate and when ever he drove to the lane that year he had so many options. A) Lay it up or dunk. B) Dish it out to Kopono, J Will, Posey, or Walker for 3 C) Hand off to Shaq D) Ally Oop to Shaq
June 25, 200917 yr You guys really have no idea how RIGGED the NBA is! They basically give Shaq away for free!!!! Ben Wallace is going to retire and the Suns are saying they might cut Pavlovic and his 4ppg and 42% shooting. What a joke the NBA has become. 20 ppg, 11 reb, and a hall of famer for NOTHING!?!? The league wants to give LeBron a championship soooo bad. They are desparate.

Seriously, you act like Shaq isn't without his faults and that the Suns aren't in rebuilding mode. You also ignore how obvious this was a cap-clearing move.

That sucks, because basketball is fun to watch. But damn, what has it all come to when one of the most dominant players EVER gets traded for such crap. Not even a first round pick? Who the hell is the Suns GM!?!?

LeBron James is one of the best in the NBA at full-court recognition, passing and play development. Not necessarily something that can be measured in assists because the NBA only rewards one assist on a play. I can't stress enough, I said earlier... the Cavs will be able to throw Ilgauskas AND O'Neal on the floor at the same time, and Ilgauskas is a proven shooter, who, in that scenario, should be matched up favorably. Plus Mo Williams et al. That's 2 seven footers, and 2 VERY solid shooters on the floor at one time. Obviously that won't be the main lineup, but the matchup problems it will cause would be pretty crazy.

Steve Kerr is their GM and yes he has made some stupid trades in the past. i don't think the suns really had a choice, amare doesn't like playing with shaq because he takes up his territory so of course they chose the young star over the declining shaq. the suns are rebuilding so it really wouldn't make sense for the suns to keep shaq since he's almost done and they might as well try to save some money.

That's not the point, James doesn't need a scoring presence in the paint, he needs a defensive presence in the paint, old or not, Shaq is big and strong enough to provide a big enough upgrade over Ilgauskas, defensively and for rebounding purposes. But to say Shaq will somehow be a detriment to James' offensive game is very short-sighted.

I meant that the Shaq that D-Wade won a championship isn't the same Shaq that LeBron will play with.
