July 2, 200915 yr Author who would we give up in the trade for Sherrill??? I do not want to give up much... idk?? but i think he used to be an allstar though ,seems like a nice guy .
July 2, 200915 yr He would be a great pick up for the Fish, hopefully the asking price is right. Uhm i remember someone brought this up before, but since we are looking for a 3B and Melvin Mora is there with the O's could we actually see a Sherill and Mora trade?
July 2, 200915 yr Gee, no when it comes to Mora. Now if you could get the 2008 version of MM that might be one thing but the 2009 version has finally hit the wall.

July 2, 200915 yr The Orioles were 60-63 on Aug. 17 last season before losing 30 of their final 38 games. They were 58-65 on Aug. 21, 2007 before losing 28 of their final 39. Do they want to trade their closer, George Sherrill, and risk another late-season collapse? That's a question team officials currently are weighing. The Marlins want Sherrill, according to major-league sources. Other teams also will be interested as the July 31 nonwaiver deadline approaches. The talks between the Marlins and Orioles have "tiny legs," according to one source familiar with the discussions. But those legs, the source said, "could grow given time." The Orioles lack long-term solutions at shortstop and third base. They are interested in Marlins rookie Chris Coghlan, sources say, who is batting leadoff and playing left field but was predominantly a third baseman in college. The Marlins, according to one source, will not trade Coghlan for Sherrill, who is earning $2.75 million in his first year of salary arbitration and will be a free agent after the 2011 season. As for the Marlins' shortstop prospects, all of the better ones are at single-A. A three-way deal is possible — the Marlins are deep enough in young pitching to pry a shortstop from another club — but the biggest issue remains the Orioles' appetite for moving Sherrill. Losing teams generally place lower values on closers than contenders. Sherrill, though, helps stabilize a young Orioles staff that will only get younger as the team continues to promote its top pitching prospects. The Orioles, like most clubs in their position, are open to moving virtually any player at the right price. Rest assured, they will not sell low on Sherrill. Ken Rosenthal, FOX Sports

For some reason, i dont like where this is going...
July 2, 200915 yr Author no way in hell do I trade CC! Just say no! i wouldn't trade chris for'em either screw that.
July 2, 200915 yr They may trade Chris Coghlan but it won't be for a reliever. CC makes an excellent piece of tradebait to be sure but I'm not advocating moving the guy, I can just see a number of teams inquiring about him from now until the deadline. If you're a rebuilding team he'd be an extraordinary catch.

July 2, 200915 yr we really need sherill to be come a legit contender. But trading cc would be crazy unless we get a really good trade!
July 2, 200915 yr Does anybody think brett carroll has some trade value or what! I havant heard anything but in my eyes i feel hes pretty good trade bait or forget him andf trade hermida and leave carroll in right field. I love hermida but he needs to go.

I love hermida but he needs to go. he's more of a "throw in" at this point. I seen this guy play defense and he is a gold glover in the making no doubt. I also seen his bat when he gets playing time and he looks good he works the count and he always hits it hard. I like him he take his chances and runs with him when ever he gets his chance! I would like to see him take hermida's spot in the lineup officially untill hermida can find some consistency!
July 2, 200915 yr I don't think the FO would be crazy enough to trade Cogs... However Uggla, Hermida, et al should go throw in Pinto too..
July 2, 200915 yr You guys do realize, Sherrill sucks right? I wouldn't trade for Sherrill. I would stand pat, I think the team is fine... Call up Maybin and move Ross to Right. Call up Gaby and think about him @ third.
