May 2, 201016 yr Just another observation on the subject of the team's colors in the future. Take a look and the MLB.com home page and put your mouse over the "MLB Sites" link at the top to see all the teams. Look at that. 30 Teams and only 4 main colors. Blue, Black, Red and Green(Kudos to Oakland for being different). I give you black doesn't really count but look at how bland that list looks. Baseball uniforms are boring enough, the last thing we need is the Marlins likely becoming another primarily blue team, especially when they now have one of few truly unique color schemes in the majors. Ideally I'd love to see an outlandish, 70s A's style colored alternate jersey(teal of course), but I'd settle for the '97 look, only updated and with the new Miami name. Right now we are basically a grayscale team, any color on the uniforms is tough to see unless your standing right next to a player. I really hope the design firm Loria hires to come up with the new logos and uniforms smacks some sense into him and somehow convinces him to keep the teal/black combo, and for his sake before they install 36,000 blue seats in the ballpark. Unless blue is the primary color of the team, and I hope it isn't, those seats will act just like the orange ones at Sun Life, they'll just make poor crowds look worse. Much like the green seats in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Arizona, etc. etc. Totally agree with you but I'm afraid we're in the minority. Everything's grey and black now. Boredom. I don't think we're in the minority, I just don't think most fans realize the colors are going to change. Even if some people don't like teal and black, you can't argue that it's unique. One of the main reasons for having colors and logos and such is to build a brand identity within the community, and you don't do that by looking like everyone else, especially in a community like ours that is filled with fans from everywhere else, who wear gear from everywhere else. When anyone outside the Marlins organization(ESPN, FSN, other teams etc.) is trying to represent the Marlins, they use teal, because that is instantly recognizable as "Marlins" when talking baseball. But when you look at a billboard, ad or giveaway made by the Marlins it looks like it should be for the Giants or Orioles because of all the damned orange. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm surprised MLB lets Loria get away with primarily using a color that is only featured on the laces of a baseball in a logo the team rarely if ever uses anymore because it says "Florida" on it. If he likes orange so much he ought to go buy the O's or Giants and let someone who respects the history of this team and it's fans run the Marlins.
May 6, 201016 yr I'd prefer a light blue orange combo over looking like the yankees, royals, cubs, dodgers, or anyone else with that stupid royalish blue stuff. So, am I crazy or has anyone else noticed a gradual lightening or "blueing" of the teal aspects of our team? Maybe I have a weird tv.
May 6, 201016 yr I have seen more Orange coming into the picture but the overall Marlins color scheme, Jersey wise, has become darker.
May 13, 201016 yr Wow, looks amazing! So much for people saying navy works better. I love it! i agree.make the seats teal..
May 15, 201016 yr Honestly I don't care about what color it's going to be. I think that a change in colors is actually a good idea and I'm sure the new logos are going to be slick. Is it just me or are all the relatively new logos and uniforms in the MLB very sweet??
May 16, 201016 yr I think part of the reason you don't see more Marlins hats on the street is because it isn't a good hat. I like the "F logo" but I think it only works as a patch or a generic logo on other merchandise. It's just not a good logo for a hat. It's too complicated and has too much stitching. I bet you don't see too many people wearing Blue Jays or Orioles hats either. I see the Orioles hat like crazy up here (Gainesville), and it's the completely stupid one with the bird on it. I don't understand how people wear that, but not the Marlins hat....
May 17, 201016 yr Can't we just have normal looking seats!!!? im sick of being able to spot out an empty seat from 400 yards away.

I don't understand how people wear that, but not the Marlins hat.... I dont know if the answer would be that Florida is a big state, almost the size of a few small states combined. Also, there are so many teams here, so people who live outside of South Florida are most likely not going to like south florida teams. So if fans in Miami wear other team hats, then fans outside of the area are most likely going to wear something else, especially fans who are transplants.
May 17, 201016 yr Can't we just have normal looking seats!!!? im sick of being able to spot out an empty seat from 400 yards away. The teal is a background color. It adds to the marlin fan sitting next to an empty seat. NOT a big deal. Orange is a big deal. But, yeah the seats are going to be blue, so all the fans will blend, except for the fans of teams that are red. Then again, many of the teams that use red also have blue. Loria must have thought this one out for a while.
May 18, 201016 yr i agree, those blue seats are brutal! especially if we're incorporating orange into the uniforms.. who else do you know that plays in orange and blue! terrible! i vote to keep the marlins wearing black silver and teal; however im not totally against incorporating more orange into the existing colors. i also vote for teal seats (or orange, to tribute the orange bowl, joe robbie) just not the blue! ...hopefully sampson hears the fans voices, ill be really disappointed if those blue seats dont get changed.
