from MLBTraderumors.com:

Jorge Cantu = B

Cody Ross = B

Nick Johnson = B

Dan Uggla = A

Jeremy Hermida = nothing

Alfredo Amezaga = nothing

So the Cantu thing is confirmed, which I think should increase our desire to trade him a good bit, since he won't bring those 1st rounders after next year, anyway, unless this were to change somehow.

I hope we offer Arbi to NJ. I don't know how much he'd get but he'd probably be worth it, plus he's shown that he really wants a 2 year deal and will probably reject our offer anyways.

I also don't imagine he'd actually get much money in arbitration, due to his games played over the years. But then again I really have no idea of what comps there are for FA arby. But it should make him easy enough to trade (even if it's for nothing) if he does accept.

I severely doubt we offer it though

Isn't anyone worried about NJ's injuries? I love the .400+ .OBP, but I love it...if he's on the field. Too much money for this organization to give out (especially for 2 years), for a guy who we don't even know will be on the field.

Also, I don't know the statistics, but from observation...he's not much better than Mike Jacobs, defensively.

Considering Abreu made $5 this year, other random contracts like Aubrey Huff making like $8 and having rollecoaster years, and Dunn the 'high' at $10 million, it's hard to place Johnson. Healthy Johnson makes $7-8 probably in arbitration, but his lack of playing time probably drops him to $6 at worst. I can't see him in arbitration going as low as Abreu, despite the fact they are pretty similar.

The dream of thinking you can poach NJ for $4 million is not going to happen. Plus, the Marlins cannot devote 1/10th their payroll in a best case scenario to a player with no guarantees of being healthy.

I'm happy we get the B compensation to recoup Thompson. We got NJ for basically free this year. I applaud Beinfest for the move, but don't over extend the welcome here.

I would rather keep NJ than Cantu but it may be neither one of them
