I can't believe what has happened in the AL Central over the last week.

 

The Tigers have pretty much looked like shoe-ins for the division over the last few months but they have choked big time - losing 6 of their last 10 and including their last 3 straight. All they had to do was win a game over the last few days and they have just looked pathetic and lifeless, like they're not even playing for a postseason birth.

 

Cabrera went 0-4 tonight leaving 6 men on base.

 

Tomorrow the Twins take Pavano to the mound against the Royals and the Tigers do have Verlander going against the White Sox - both SP's on short rest.

 

If they are still tied after tomorrow, they will have a one game playoff in Minnesota on Tuesday (not Monday due to MNF).

 

I really hope the Twins take this, I don't think Detroit really deserve it anymore after the last two weeks.

My money is on Detroit and Verlander over the White Soxs.

Yeah, the drama on the last day is nice, but it sucks to know that the Marlins would've clinched today, had they played in the AL Central.

This is why baseball is great - play 161 games and a division race comes down to the final day of the season.

I actually think if Detroit makes it they have a good chance to beat NY. Minnesota on the other hand not really.

If the Twins make the playoffs I think that is when they will really feel the effect of not having Justin Morneau in the lineup.

His blood alcohol would have to be like at .45 to poison him, not exactly a couple more.

 

BTW, I'm not defending drunkenness, I happen to not drink myself.

I think the point here is that the Tigers are in the midst of a crucial weekend series to clinch the division and their best player is out drinking something fierce until the wee hours of the morning. He then proceeds to suck the next day, which was probably the most crucial day for the Tigers to win. What a moron.

I don't think we win 87 games playing in the AL.

Hell of a game so far.

There is so much momentum on the Twins side it isn't even funny.

Inge just saved the game for Detroit with a diving stop. Going to the 10th inning.

Twins tie it, and with 1 out and 2 runners on the corners, the Tigers get a DP including throwing the lead runner out at home on a sac fly attempt.

 

This is one of the best games I've seen this year.

When it was live I thought he was out, but after the replay I think he might have gotten his hand in there.

This has been an awsome game. You can only hope the rest of the PO are like this.

Casilla did a heck of a job with the slide considering the throw had him by a mile.

 

It was such a close call that either way the decision went I wouldn't have been upset.
