December 4, 200916 yr The Marlins on Friday announced the signings of six-year free agents: RHP Kasey Olenberger, OF Brandon Tripp, RHP John Fulton, RHP Jesse Foppert, utility player Vinny Rottino and infielder Hector Luna. http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/12/foppert_luna_among_signees.html
December 4, 200916 yr I assume this is just building up their minor league rosters as teams do every season.
December 4, 200916 yr Author Hector Luna could replace Amezaga and maybe even start at 2b if he proves something in ST.
December 4, 200916 yr Author Hector Luna can be a sleeper. He had a monster 2009 season in AAA and had two decent season in the NL(STL 05,06). Maybe he's a John Baker type.
December 4, 200916 yr I agree that Luna could be a decent backup if he can cut it during ST. If not, he could be an injury replacement waiting in AAA.

December 5, 200916 yr Hector Luna could replace Amezaga and maybe even start at 2b if he proves something in ST. Let's not go crazy, but in the event Bonifacio wins the 2B job over Coghlan who stays in LF and Amezaga is not resigned due to finances, I can see Luna being the 25th man middle infield backup. Foppert was the # 5 overall prospect in baseball before blowing his arm out in 2003. Poor guy. He was amazing in 2002.
December 5, 200916 yr Hector Luna can be a sleeper. He had a monster 2009 season in AAA Something to remember about his monster season though was that it came in Alb[tab]. Marlins fans should remember just how bad it is there. His Major League Equivalent from last year is basically his career MLB line. Another thing is that, at least going by the numbers, he's a rather bad defensive 2b.
December 6, 200916 yr At least Luna has some experience at the major league level with some success. It helps that he can play all over the place but I don't see him in the starting lineup. He is a nice guy to have stashed at AAA in case you need him.
December 6, 200916 yr Hector Luna will play the role of Andy Gonzalez... If that is true the Marlins made a huge upgrade because Gonzalez stinks.
