November 14, 200322 yr Although you are right, adults buy the most cd's, which is why i think rap may really take over as today's teens's and young adults hit their 20's and 30's and bring their rap fandom along with them as they age - ohheeoh magglio I'm 24. I grew up listening to NWA and the like. My brother was a heavy metal guy, I was the Rap guy. I only listen to a few hip hop/rap artists now though (Nas, ATCQ, Talib K) because when YOU DO GROW UP, you realize a few things: 1. Not all women be bitches and ho's 2. Its not actually cool to push crack on the corner 3. I have no glock, nor do I wish to stick it down anyones mouth 4. Who cares about how much money, bling, and cars you have? answer - NOBODY I am not a fan of Country, but at least theres difference in the way they sound and they feature better messages. *sidenote In no way am I some holy-rolling tape smasher but RAP SUCKS THESE DAYS and its full of lies and bulls*** that kids like Willis#1 eat up. You'll learn soon enough my man.
November 14, 200322 yr Exactly that is the general point.... rap music in general has a life span that ends at 'adulthood' country music can carry over into adulthood and past..... all of your teens wouldnt understand that though.
November 14, 200322 yr Country and Lite music rule the ratings, rap is just pushed by the nba marketing machine behind it. It is all an NBA conspiracy to try and take over the #2 sport slot from MLB that is quickly backfiring. :shifty

November 14, 200322 yr DT, i have proof of the ratings! check your market, your cousin's market, and all the those inbetween! http://www.radioandrecords.com/Subscribers...ngs/ratmain.asp
November 14, 200322 yr Black Eyed Peas cd is good. Especially if you dont like all the gangsta rap. Even though a couple songs are a little pop. Its still a good cd. Also Outkast is good. I agree though with u jburque about changing ur listening habits as you grow up especially if ur a rap fan. But i can never see myself not listening to Outkast and such groups like that. Also I agree kids are getting brainwashed with all this 50-cent s*** and all that. (I.e Willis#1) lol
November 15, 200322 yr Hey, The Beatles still is good music to some of us! As for me, I prefer smooth jazz--and I'm proud to admit it! Sometimes I'll listen to oldies. I don't care for other music genres. Rap should just go away and never return.
November 15, 200322 yr Rap SUCKS! It is not music and it will never be! You can call it anything else but music... What happened to good music I don't know, everybody is too busy looking either like a gangster or a whore! The Beatles was good music... Damn it I sound like the oldest SOB on this board... You are not alone dude! There are more like you and me who can not get themselves to turn FM radio anymore because today's music sucks... Besides, the only good music is not even made anymore... I hate rap and the new R&B and hip hop.... :thumbdown I am stuck in the 50' trough the 80's music era; anything before we started the music decline in the early 90's.... I really feel sorry for those of you who were born after 1985 and think DMX or Tupac or any of those guys make lyrics. This is like a totally plastic, cold, lifeless, meaningless generation. Elvis will always be the King and no one will ever ever be as good as the Beatles.... That was music! :afro :geek

I also like country, some metal, and other types...hate opera with a passion and classical music is too boring. My soon-to-be new roommate summed up rap for me in the best way...he says RAP=Retards Attempting Poetry :lol :lol :lol By the way, for those of you who DO like Toby Keith as much as I do...his new album is GREAT

November 16, 200322 yr Before I even start, I should mention that yes this perspective is coming from a teen and I'm probably just proving your point but I'll say it anyway The whole rap/hip hop/r&b thing is my favorite type of music. Here's the whole "not all rap music is like that" speech :shifty I do admit that there's many rap songs out there that are very offensive and some I can't even bother listening to. But not all rap music is like that. Jay Z and Nas are probably the best examples. They don't rap about hoes and weed, they rap about their past experiences and how it made them who they are. Even Tupac,Eminem and Biggie (behind all the cursing and gunshots) you hear messages. Plus, even the music I do listen to that contains offensives stuff, usually I'll like the song because the beat's good or theres a catchy line or chorus or something ya kno? And I'm just that type of person that doesn't get influenced by music, like I'm not gonna go kill someone or something because eminem said it's okay?? So to pretty much sum it all up, if you don't like it - don't listen to it. Oh yeah, I think another reason why not as much "rap" cd's are selling as other music genre's is maybe because we all go burn them from somebody else who has it :whistle But yeah, just my opinion...
November 16, 200322 yr Author BTW in case anybody is wondering about THe G - Unit, Jay Z Sales My brother who is a manager at one of the tower's in Philly said that in it's first day of release G - Unit sold a respectable 150 copies, that's good but nowhere near what Fifty's last record did while Jay Z sold 900 copies in just half a day! Jay- Z is whipping G - Unit

November 16, 200322 yr as for the Dixie Chicks....I love their new cd...it's bluegrassy, and really just a great cd. I don't agree with their political views, nor do I agree with them expressing their political views at a concert in Europe, nor do I care what their political views are, because they aren't political scientists, they are just musicians. I do listen to their music though (newest cd, Home). I think it is silly when people come up to me and are like "get that cd out of your cd collection! They are flaming liberals!" I respond by telling them to get rid of most of their movie collection, because most of Hollywood is liberal. So are many rappers. The day I start listening to movie stars' and singers' and caring, and basing my own political views on what they think, is the day Communism takes over the United States.
