December 15, 200916 yr We have Brian Barden?.I like his early season splash last season for the Cardinals.
December 15, 200916 yr Cardinals’ Mr. April Set the Table, but Is Absent for the Feast The rookie Brian Barden batted .385 with three home runs in April for St. Louis. He slumped in May and was sent down. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/27/sports/baseball/27cardinals.html
December 15, 200916 yr I like Strickland. He pitched in 50 games at Albuquerque last season and he was 2-1 with 32 saves, a 2.98 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He last pitched in the majors in 2005 with the Astros. He has pitched in 236 games (0 starts) in his major league career and he is 12-21 with 20 saves, a 3.34 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. For some reason he has been buried in the minors for the last few years but this guy is a good pitcher.

I also love that we signed Hensley. Woo for actually having a AAA pitcher that probably won't put up a 6 ERA in the bigs. Best case scenerio is obviously he never pitches in the majors but best case scenerios don't happen often and he should be a LOT better than the Koronkas/Teddy Grahams/ect.
December 15, 200916 yr I think Marlins like formerly famous relievers who were disappeared in MLB, recently. Like Kerry Lightenberg, Matt Mentai, Scott Strickland, etc. Obviously, they could not be the outstanding competers in ST, you know. Just guys for filling the roster.
December 15, 200916 yr i doubt any of these guys make it to the majors for us unless some injuries occur. they should merely be organizational depth. although there are some free agent relievers that i would like the marlins to bring in on minor league deals. guys like duaner sanchez and joel peralta would probably come in for minimum deals to try and return to form while fighting for bullpen spots.

Very quiet solid signing there.
