Marlins were off today. Miller and Hensley pitched in a simulated game. The Spring schedule will resume on Tuesday when the Fish take on the Orioles in Jupiter.

Hope Maybin starts turning it around. Two strikeouts?

Turn it around? Dudes hitting .333 right now. Bad games happen, but he hasn't been doing that badly this spring.

another very solid outting from ricky... and a 1-2-3 from veras... Not bad

Good to see thats Ricky stretched out to 6 innings (not sure about the pitch count). I know JJ is scheduled for 100 pitches in his next outing. Now we need the other rotation candidates to perform well enough to allow them to be stretched out longer in their final couple of Spring starts.

I am feeling pretty confident that Ricky is going to have a solid year (3.50ish ERA, 15 wins, etc.). If we can get the same from JJ and a surprise performance from our #3 starter, we will be in very good shape.

He hasn't played a ton though. That's what I'm more concerned about. Hope he doesn't start pressing.

We need solid performances from the #3 and #4 spots. I'm not counting on anything from the 5th spot.

Ton or not, he hasn't played badly, so it's not so much about turning it around as it is keeping pace...and I think all of us are hoping he doesn't start pressing.

Anybody know if anything happened to Cody? Started the game but only had one plate apperence?

On the radio they said there were no injuries to report at the end of the game.

I am loving Ricky's Spring thus far. Looking at his stats I'm really impressed. He's currently leading the ML in K's, hasn't allowed a walk, and is 3rd in IP meaning that he's been able to stretch himself out. What I don't care for is the amount of HR's he has allowed but I guess that's just because he's remained consistently in the strike zone.

I'm also loving that Coghlan's Spring too. The fact that he's been able to maintain his form following last season is great. He's in the top 10 in AVG. (of players with 40 or more AB's) in the ML.

I know this is only ST but I'm still hoping that this is something we can look forward to next season.

Wednesday's Lineup:

LF Bonifacio

CF Maybin

SS Ramirez

3B Cantu

DH Baker

2B Uggla

C Paulino

RF Carroll

1B Morrison

RHP Anibal Sanchez gets the start against RHP Kevin Slowey

anibal off to a nice start...lots of strikes and lots of groundballs

so much for anibal throwing strikes and inducing ground balls

Jacque Jones lol

Nice to see Baker back in the lineup and having a nice day going to 2-3 thus far

Carroll left todays game with a left oblique strain.

I know Anibal gave up a few hits and a couple of homers, but he did have a 13-3 GB/FB ratio which is something at least.

What happened with Volstad?? It looked like he was doing pretty good early on.

I just noticed Hermida has a .432 ST average...

Todays game against the Mets is a crazy one. Penn gets rocked, gives up 5 ER in 3 innings as the Mets jump to a 5-0 lead before the Marlins get 8 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 8-5 lead. Now in the 7th... its 8-8.

Ricky is looking dominant today. Maybe he should start to give JJ more time to get healthy.

Ricky has done very well this spring but he I believe he also threw well last spring. He capped it off with 7 or 8 no hit innings against the tigers. I can't find his 09 ST stats.

I'm still hesitant to get real excited about him.

After 27.1 innings of Spring baseball, Ricky just walked his 1st batter

I am pretty excited about him. In reality, Ricky was very unlucky last season. His ERA was high despite his good peripherals. If he performs the same way this season, I expect his ERA to be in the mid 3's. Ricky's formula to success is really simple: keep the walks down. I am pretty confident he will do that this season.

There is no questioning his stuff. I know most people on this site prefer JJ, but I think Nolasco's stuff is better. Exhibit A: 16 strikeouts in one game against the Braves, including 9 in a row. Nasty.
