April 27, 201016 yr JJ said, in his post-game interview "I could have gone on forever" after throwing 117 pitches. Perhaps he'll become a Livan-like rubber arm, TJ-surgery notwithstanding. We'll have to trust Fredi and St. Clair not to abuse him, something which is not much in doubt considering the contract he's signed to. Regardless, this was clearly JJ's first game where he was really "on." Great location and control. Almost unhittable. With he and Ricky firing on all cylinders and Volstead and Sanchez slowly getting there, I'm not worried about the starters, never mind erratic performances by Nate (the highest paid Marlin at $10 mill, 96% paid by Detroit.) So far, he's good for a decent performance about half the time. Sort of a harder-throwing, lefty version of Brian Moehler (who will never, ever convince anyone to pay him $10 mill.) But, who knows, the guy might actually become consistently good. How is it that we keep getting these deals from Detroit? Perhaps Dombrowski has a soft spot for us.
April 27, 201016 yr The ESPN bottom line ticker thing said something about yesterday being the first day since 1987 (I think) that 2 pitchers had 3 RBI's in the same day. Yovani Gallardo was the other pitcher as the Brew Crew routed Pit 17-3.
April 27, 201016 yr BTW, Barden had the #1 Web Gem last night as well. And deservedly so! That was a sick play.
April 27, 201016 yr Also worth noting, as Tommy and Rich said, Hanley has now hit more opposite field HR in 2010 (2) than all of 2009 (1)
