Posted April 28, 201014 yr Not a great game for the offense, 15 Ks. Anibal didn't look to bad, so at least that is encouraging. Coghlan, however, is making me sad.
April 28, 201014 yr Author Simply put, the Marlins look like a .500 team so far. So far, maybe. I know we can be better. Just like I don't believe the Nationals are an above .500 team.
April 28, 201014 yr On the plus side, Coghlan got another hit tonight. If he keeps this up he should be flirting with .200 by the start of June.
April 28, 201014 yr Abysmal performance by the offense. 15K's is insane. Badenhop with another shaky performance as well. Sanchez pitched fine, as far as I can tell. The offense just couldn't give him any help.

April 28, 201014 yr Coghlan looks atrocious. In spite of his recent 4 game hit streaks hes managed to strike out 7 times during that stretch. Hes being impatient and chasing garbage. It might be time in a week or so to send him down to get his head on straight. Hes obviously way off.
April 28, 201014 yr While I'm still concerned about Coghlan myself, he did still manage to get a hit and keep some kind of momentum going. Sure, 1-4 with 3 strikeouts doesn't sound too good at all... his first AB was 10 pitches (with 2 pitchouts) and his second AB was 8 pitches. Hopefully if he can have good ABs and see more pitches then he can work himself out of this funk. Once he starts getting extra base hits and 2-3 hit games, we'll know he's back.

There is still a lot of teams within a couple of games of .500 such as: Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland, LA Angels, Seattle, Texas, Philadelphia, Florida, Washington, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Colorado and Arizona. Give it a couple more weeks and we will start to see teams spreading out a little bit more.
