So I guess your contention remains he didn't blow off Fanfest, he wasn't sought by the police in two counties and he wasn't being sued by his agent, I get it. :banghead

My contention is that I can't find any proof or corroborating evidence that said he was sought by police in 2 counties. So, he's a fugitive of the law, yet all the Miami-Dade cops, who have a warrant for him, never arrest him at the place where they both were 55 times in the next 4 months. And then none of the major papers report it. No one but Gussy reports it. No one else corroborates that he gave a cop the finger. No one else corroborates anything but that he was charged with driving without a valid license. Neither the public databases of Miami-Dade or Broward Counties list any previous warrants. Broward County shows that he was pulled over for Operating without a Valid License and no other criminal charges in the county (which would include skipping out). Miami-Dade shows absolutely nothing.

I don't know why you'll take this rag's word at it's very noncredible face value while constantly doubting various other papers of much higher regard.

And you want people to believe it isn't true because you're contention is New Times made it up. Try using Janie Campbell's columns for the local NBC affiliate, but I guess she won't be good enough a source either or maybe then you'll say she didn't fact check her pieces, and just for the record law enforcement in Miami-Dade and Broward have reciprocity in a number of areas. At the same time these "crimes" are so far down the priority list (the point you're missing or perhaps it's inconvenient to your arguing) the only way he would have been arrested would be if he was stopped and cited again and run through their computer which would have on file the bench warrant for his arrest.. (And the matter with his agent is a civil matter so law enforcement isn't even in the picture for all intents and purpose) It doesn't work that way in South Florida, you've got two missing kids, an axe murder and Renyol Pinto, let's drop everything and go get that SOB Pinto. Use your heads. I laugh about this only because it's happened to me. Not the finger, I stopped giving cops the fingers decades ago.

But if I get this straight I guess you now agree:

he blew off Fanfest

he was sued by his agent who got a summary judgment against him (in other words the court found for the agent) because he wouldn't pay a relatively small bill

you acknowledge the traffic violation(s)

...but none of these strike either of you as "poor choices". (which BTW is what this whole thing is about, bobby's semantic misadventures)

you're iffy on the "finger" incident (and Admin please forgive the photo I believe it is germaine to the facts in the case lololololololololololol, I'm so bad lolololololololololololol)

and the only thing I wrote you are contesting is being wanted in two counties which is a question you should bring up with South Florida law enforcement. Just make sure you ask the right question.

All because you have to knit-pick a single off-hand comment in a multiple-paragraph post/idea/thought on mostly a different subject (upcoming possible availability of a pitcher who performed extremely well here in 2008 (54 inn, 60 strikeouts, a 2.00 ERA and 1.20 whip who can get both lefties and righties out) that he (Pinto) might have made some bad choices in his personal life or however I put it posts and post and post above.

You guys are great. Really.

I'm surprised one of you didn't take me to task for misspelling Google above. How could you have missed that one?

I'm done if you guys are but if you want to continue the crusade I'm in. Common sense should prevail here and we drop this (fool that I am I actually think there's a chance that might happen) because the three of us have done a really good job of destroying the thread and getting off point over almost absolutely nothing.

all I'm trying to do is make right by you and consider the source of what you posted.

And just for clarity's sake, this "escalated" to what it is because I simply said I hadn't heard of any off field issues with Pinto and you threw a fit, but whatever.

As for Nelson vs. Pinto, to me, it's not a choice. Pinto is the better pitcher. Easily. Rabb already went over the details of why Pinto is the better pitcher. He even quoted himself on it. It's been in here twice.

I have no problem with him blowing-off Fanfest. The way fans abuse him makes no sense based on the he has pitched in his career. His stats are definetly better than average but all he gets is hate. A traffic violation, blowing-off Fanfest and a minor business disagreement are minute off the field stuff. It's not as if he's a drunk driver or woman beater.

I personally just find it odd that nobody else has independently verified or picked up on the fact that a warrant was issued for a somewhat prominent professional athlete in our area, and that the New Times' writer, who so had it out for Pinto hasn't mentioned it since February, and actually hasn't provided anything new on either case since he first reported it in November. Nothing.

Given that nobody else has independently verified the report, I don't see what's wrong with being skeptical, given the source.

Does skipping fanfest and having a minor issue with his former agent enough for me to question his stability? Only if his ERA goes above 5.

You know what, I'm not even going to bother with you Marlins2003. Your last post makes it ridiculously obvious you don't even care about what my posts say.

I have a problem with him blowing off FanFest because it's contractually obligated, but it's not that big of a deal. Of course the abuse might have had something to do with it.

And yeah, I agree that his "off-field issues" barely warrant a second look. This isn't Scott Olsen stuff. Hell, it's not even as bad a Dontrelle Willis.

I still don't understand why Pinto is the one who should go.

If you actually want to bring Joe Nelson in (I personally could care less for the acquisition, but hypothetically speaking...), and you want to make room for Nelson...why does Pinto leave when he hasn't even been the worst reliever in our bullpen? Hasn't even been the worst left-handed reliever in our bullpen...that would be Meyer, right now (who even in his best days isn't your typical LOOGY, either, as he's been better against righties, as well).

Thanks. I thought I was crazy.

It's easy to be down on people for off-field antics, but I think people get carried away. Cabrera was probably a bigger screw-up than Pinto has been. I wonder how 2003 feels about Dombrowski having to pick up Cabrera in jail the morning after heavy drinking and possibly beating his wife.

I would still take Cabrera and his 1.119 OPS back in our line-up with no questions asked.

In the end, it all comes down to performance on the field. Pinto hasn't been too bad after a rough start.

I've had a person without a license drive me home because I was too drunk to get myself home (His license was revoked because his insurance dropped him without telling him while still taking his money, which is around when he got pulled over for some random deal). Truly, this man is a villain and his after-hours distain for the law should cost him his job.

EDIT: Oh, and if I didn't pay a ticket for parking more than 12" away from the curb (I live in Nebraska. They have time to do this), I'd have a warrant for my arrest. What matters is exactly WHAT the warrants in the two other countries are for. There's a difference between traffic violations and, oh, I don't know, chasing around your plantation workers with a machete and using gasoline to set them on fire.
