Posted June 7, 201014 yr On a more positive note then most wall posts... Cody Ross is playing some very good baseball right now. No one seems to have taken notice to that. There are some positives on this team. If Hanley and the bullpen can get it together... and we get some clutch at bats... things can turn quickly...
June 7, 201014 yr Speaking of Cody Ross.... Baseball Prospectus just had an article about what the Marlins should do with their outfield once Stanton is called up.... Eric Seidman I think. Apparently his thinking is that they should be focused on the near future (as in next season or two) and thus Cody Ross should be the odd man out since he has no place in the Marlins future.
June 7, 201014 yr Lol... that's horrible logic. Cody Ross is not the odd man out. Benching Maybin will not stunt his potential growth. Baseball, or any sport, is about winning. Unless you know your team is not going to win, you dont play a lesser player simply for "the future". You play to win.
June 7, 201014 yr I'm all for Cody being the odd man out... when July 31st rolls around and we're out of playoff contention. I'm sure he could net us something solid from a team looking for an outfield replacement.
June 7, 201014 yr if we're not in contention, sure. but he's the only guy on the team hitting .300! give him some props
June 7, 201014 yr Cody is by far one of my favorite players on the team, but if this team doesn't show it can play above .500 come trade deadline time, I think they would be better off moving him. Maybin has shown glimpses of the player he's capable of being and Cogs is getting back to last years form, if you can't win this year make adjustments and start planning for next.
June 7, 201014 yr Can we please start naming threads so that people have even the slightest bleeping clue what's inside them?
