June 21, 201016 yr If you ask me, there are only 2 pitchers this year who have been more impressive than Josh Johnson. Their names are Ubaldo Jimenez and Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee is the most underrated pitcher in baseball at the moment, imo. I honestly didn't know he was having such a great year because of his record and the team he's playing on. I mean 3 of his 5 wins were complete games. His numbers are outstanding. 2.55 ERA .901 WHIP!!!!!! and only 4 BB with 67 SO he's also given up less then 1 hit per inning 7.6 H/9. It's pretty difficult to find someone with better statistics then him only one is like you said Ubaldo Jimenez.
June 21, 201016 yr He has been great, and his K/BB is f*cking incredible, but I put JJ over him for now. Compare them on fangraphs. Also, JJ's whip is .98.

Cliff Lee is the most underrated pitcher in baseball at the moment, imo. HE HAS 4 WALKS IN 77 INNINGS. Holy mama. .9 WHIP. That's freaking phenomenal. I didn't realize he'd been THAT good. His K/BB ratio is 16.75. The next best guy this year is Roy Halladay who came into today's game at 5.63. Lee has a 1.90 FIP this year; he should only get better, once he's traded at the trade deadline to a better team, as well. Hence the reason I traded Ubaldo Jimenez in fantasy, and picked up Lee as one of the pieces in return. :cool Nah in Fantasy Baseball Ubaldo helps out more, well at least in the leagues I'm in. He has a low ERA, Low Whip he wins Games and he strikes out like 8 per game.

That's true, but as Nny pointed out on the Pinto thread about Renyel Pinto (the whole luck thing), sabermetrics suggest Lee is the better pitcher. Sabermetrics suggest Lee might just be the best in baseball this year. Considering Cliff Lee is likely to get traded, you combine the way he's independently pitched along with the fact that he'll likely be going to a better team (if he goes to the NL...a weaker hitting league) all those #'s will more than likely get a lot better for Lee. Ubaldo is more likely to regress some. Regarding strikeouts, Lee's K/9 is 7.76 this year, which is quite similar to Ubaldo's so he's not hurting anyone in that category. Plus, since you commented on that thread, you probably remember I also got Francisco Liriano in that deal, who's pitched like an ace this year, as well. With that said, this isn't a fantasy thread lol. Simple fact the 16.75 K/BB is way better than anyone in baseball at the moment/extremely impressive.

Not sure what it is really that you'd like to compare. Regardless, the one major advantage that guys like Ubaldo and JJ have over Lee this year is that Lee was hurt, so he's pitched 20+ less innings than those guys thus far, this year.

Man, I hadn't either. But that's what happens when you play for a bad team on the West Coast.

There numbers, obviously. Also, I was going to bring that up. He's pitched far less than they have. Still, they didn't have the numbers he has when they were at 70 IP.
June 21, 201016 yr I dunno, as a pitcher you reach a point where the numbers are so good that distinctions are meaningless. Lee and Johnson have WHIPs of 1.0 or less. At that point differences in results are just differences in circumstances

Seems such a waste of the talent of their 1-2 punch of Lee-Hernandez to be pitching over there with little support from their lineup and in a small market
June 21, 201016 yr Josh Johnson's statistics / rank in baseball Innings Pitched: 100 (T-8th) ------> 6.7 IP/GS, showing he averages about 7 innings per start ERA: 1.80 (3rd) WHIP: .98 (3rd) K/BB: 3.77 (10th) FIP: 2.56 (3rd) xFIP: 3.20 (5th) Impressive to have a guy who's at least in the top 10 in ALL those categories.
