Mlb 11: The Show

No, it'd be more realistic if your perfect timing superb contact hits dropped more than 10 percent of the time. Maybe it's because I play with the marlins and they're constantly underrated. I don't know. Don't even get me started on the glitches I've seen so far.

That's not how it works in real life. Just because you make perfect contact doesn't mean your hits are going to drop...

And you're exaggerating the 10%.

Yeah thanks for the enlightening information on getting hits. I probably know more about baseball than you so don't talk to me like I'm 8 years old. Your right though, I am exaggerating on the 10 percent, but not much.

Getting pretty frustrated with RTTS. The closer i started with the fish gets traded to Detroit mid way through his first season. I am literally dominating double a get called up to triple a give up 1 run in 20 appearances and none in the PO. So for sure I think Ill be in triple a next year. My contract offer is for triple a bull pen. But as soon as ST ends I get demoted to double a because my performance is under par. What kinda BS is that I haven't even pitched a game. Well I kill it in double a and and now I got traded to ARI and am closing for their double a team like i was in Detroit.

Alright, I really don't want to get involved or start anything here, but this is a HUGE no-no. You're less than 10 posts and only 12 days into your Marlinsbaseball posting career, and you make a claim like this? Nothing but problems can come from that. You need to prove over a good amount of GOOD posts [i'm not saying 20,000 small posts or anything ridiculous like that, but even 100 or 200 posts with good, knowledgeable statements backed with facts.]

Such as...

For example [making this up]:

Player A does a lot better than Player B in clutch situations:

Close and late, A has a .318 average while B has a .276

Etc etc etc.

Never EVER make statements like that without having shown it. Trust me, I've made a ton of dumb posts in my 7 years here.

Anyways, as far as realism, I haven't played the game, but if just 10% of hits fall in, that actually sounds fair. Come on, how many times have you seen a ball get absolutely SMOKED just to have some amazing defensive play made on it? [see: Game 7 NLCS 2006, Scott Rolen --> Endy Chavez] On the flip side, how many times have you seen a ball get hit so weakly it looked like a 5 year old hit it and it dropped in for a hit? [see: Game 7 World Series 2001, Luis Gonzalez].

I find that to be pretty fair.

I especially love the posts like these when they have grammar errors, to boot.

Ok you need to chill out being a grammar Nazi. I don't see that as a huge deal. If you understand what I'm trying to say, then don't comment on the grammar unless you like to be annoying.

As for Mike, when I said "I probably know more about baseball than you," I was simply trying to make a statement to whoever's reading to not talk to me like I'm 8 years old. Instead of saying "probably" a better word there would have been "could." As long people treat me with respect in their posts, I'll return that respect.

Now as for what you said about the hits being balanced out in real baseball with weak hits getting through and strong hits not dropping, from what I've seen in the game, it does not balance out.

Instead of saying "probably" a better word there would have been "could." As long people treat me with respect in their posts, I'll return that respect.

You still have to earn that respect. As for replacing "probably" with "could", it wouldn't really make the statement too much better.

Actually it does make it better, because it changes the meaning of the entire statement and the point I was trying to make. As for earning respect, if that means people are going to be rude to me till I've posted a hundred amazing posts, then they better be ready for me to stand my ground.

No, I'm not saying they're going to be rude to you, just don't come on here trying to look like a know-it-all or someone who's superior to others without proving yourself. Honestly, this board LOVES a good back-n-forth, as long as it doesn't include drama. People on here will defend their points to the death or... til they get overly board with it or a mod closes the thread. lol

As for the first part - I didn't say it stayed the same, I just basically said it wasn't much better. Just take that post for what it is, which I saw was just his opinion which deferred slightly from your opinion as far as fairness in the game goes.

I know it's not The Show, but in MLB 2K10 ... I drove in 3 runs with Aramis Ramirez on a 2-run homer ...

Don't ask me how, I do not know. [it was first AB of the game, runner on 2nd with 1 out]

and that is why the 2K series sucks

Exactly. But, for once, the game actually helped me win one :D Usually it makes me lose one due to stupid glitches and such [pick-offs at 1st... especially with a lefty. I click the button to go back as soon as the leg goes up, and my runner will slide back in, but as SOON as the lefty releases the ball, the runner resets and 7/10 times he gets picked off - with a standard 2 step lead...]

I find that hilarious. I remember playing it once and my friend tried picking me off at first, the ball got past the 1st baseman and towards the right field corner. The problem was that the game camera stayed in its original position (which is the one on the 3rd base side that many broadcasts use to show the runner and the pitcher) therefore he couldn't see where the ball ended up rolling and couldnt retrieve it. I ended up scoring from 1st on a botched pickoff LOL

  • 1 month later...

so i'm 4-2 to start the season. won both series against the mets and the nationals. mike stanton is starting the season on a tear with 3 homeruns

here's my team that i hope turns into a dynasty....

C - Buck

1B - Prince Fielder

2B - Sean Rodriguez

SS - Hanley

3B - Infante

LF - Morrison

CF - BJ Upton

RF - Stanton

Bench: C - Salty, SS - Ozzie Martinez, 3B - Dobbs, OF - Bonifacio, OF - Cousins

SP - Johnson, Nolasco, John Danks, Anibal, Volstad

Bullpen: LRP - Hensley

MRP - Webb

MRP - Sanches

MRP - Choate

SU - Mujica

SU - Dunn

CL - Nunez

when i do franchises i try to make the team as good yet realistic because then you lose the fun of playing the game. prince fielder is becoming a free agent so i gave them alot of good players for him since they might lose him anyway. now that the rays lost half there team via free agency i thought they'd want to rebuild so i give them corey hart, john baker, and jhan marinez for upton and sean rodriguez. also upton has had problems with maddon anyway so a change in scenery wouldn't be out of the question. then to bolster the rotation i acquired john danks from the white sox for 2 really good prospects. finally i just acquired saltalamacchia from the red sox for minor leaguers so that i have a guy in place to take over behind the plate once john buck starts to decline down the road
