So. Apparently it was a hate crime. Apparently this woman who got beat up was a transgender, and not only were the bystanders not helping. They were laughing. The reason they attacked her? She tried to use the woman's bathroom.

People disgust me.

And they don't see the irony in this...?

I agree. Sex changes are gross.

I don't think either joke was funny.

She (he??) may have been faking the seizure so the attack would stop.

That's what I was thinking.

That guy is just stupid, though. He really thinks all of that was justifiable because of the person's sex change.

Well the moron who video taped it is just that. He cant even spell 'the'.

It's entirely possible that the seizures were real... you can be having a seizure and then... not be having a seizure 30 minutes later. Makes perfect sense to me.

Is this a playful smh, or an actual smh of disappointment?

Pretty surprised that she would actually do this. And no tears or anything. Pretty tough chick, mentally.

Also, I knew the excuse was going to be, "You talkin to my man?" Girls love starting fights this way.

Okay,

So I agree with everything everyone has said about violence being despicable, hatred being a horrible thing...but i feel like we're not giving the manager (blue shirt dude, can be heard shouting throughout vid and trying to kick/keep ppl out)enough credit here.

I've worked in food service for about a decade, been employed by everything from a multinational fast-food corp to my current job in a fine dining high end independent place. I've seen everything from child abuse to public sex and watched affairs unfold from timid first meetings to total marriage meltdowns..

In many places, corporations in particular, there are very very VERY rigid rules about what you can and cannot do to customers. A lowly dishwasher, fry cook or cashier could totally say f*** it and slug someone doing something that's clearly wrong. (They should also be fired for leaving the kitchen with gloves on, or leaving their stations, but those are other matters entirely.) What i'm saying is that there is a higher probability that someone in a lower position doesn't actually NEED that job as much as, well, a manager. We're all totally right in faulting the underlings for doing f*** all, but the manager...he was trying. He couldn't slug someone, he'd lose his job. But he did tell people to stop, he did put himself into the conflict, he did try and pull people off, and he did try to keep people who had been kicked out...out. He just couldn't be everywhere at once. If you work for a corp in foodservice and value your job...honestly you CANT do anything else. Raise your voice too much, lay as much as a single FINGER on anyone for anything at anytime while you're in uniform even off the clock...and you're gone. Now, if some chick had been getting beat up in Cannoli Kitchen, Gordo's, or The Swamp...then f***in deck the f***s. your owner will understand, you were breakin' up a fight! Every proper chef loves a good scrap anyway.

Oh come on what?

That little old lady was white and everyone else there was black. I don't even think he/she meant it that way, but it's got to at least cross your mind. Don't make a giant fiasco out of it, but you can't rule out racial motivations. But again, I don't even think she meant it that way. It's a pretty descriptive tool when she's the only white lady there.

Right, I'm not saying that she was saying it in a racist manner. I'm saying that she needs to watch her mouth when she's speaking to the press. To make sure not to have anything turned around on herself.

It sounds like she was answering two different questions that are not necessarily diametrically opposed. Both answers can be valid.

If the details Pollis provided are accurate, then it's not a hate crime. It's a "stay away from my man" crime. And it would be an injustice to pursue hate crime charges where no hate crime was committed. (Just call me captain obvious)

EDIT: I just noticed she told the Baltimore Sun an entirely different story of what happened. Something is fishy....

Totally not a hate crime. That's why they ALL sat there and watched. Right? That's why the manager was telling the girls to leave because the cops were coming, right?

That's why the employees sat there and watched, right? and laughed, right?

Hold on, let me get another  in there.

We don't know right now, it's an unfounded assumption right now. More details need to be learned. Ever heard of stupidity? that could be why everyone watched and warned the girls.
