on the bright side, volquez's pitch count is way up. the downside is the middle of our lineup hasnt done anything so we arent scoring. but thats the flaw of the lineup. inconsistent power so were gonna strand alot of runners.

Hanley swung at a pitch earlier out of the zone and got himself in a deeper hole putting his at bat at the discretion of the umpire. he did a similar thing in his previous at bat and the same result occurred with him just swinging and missing.

 

sure gaby hit a deep shot, but again because it wasnt in the zone just couldnt get it out. its hard to hit balls out of the zone.

 

my point is they need to be patient up there with volquez. hes got good stuff, but obviously doesnt have it tonight. hes all over the place. they arent doing a bad job of it either, but the middle of their lineup isnt doing anything partly because they have chased bad pitches.

Not that simple, Hanley was looking for a fastball to hit and the changeups he swung and missed on in both AB's were perfect and would have fooled a lot of hitters. He has made good pitches to Hanley tonight.
