November 23, 201114 yr Hey loved Bake, but his time here was soooooo over. You could see that. Guy was a great talker, and I expect to see him in a TV booth in a few years. He will do much better there than in a uniform. What do you mean his time was over. The guy has only been up since 2008 and spent most of 2010-2011 with tommy John. He didn't get a real chance to come back and play here afte the surgery. He had good numbers in 08 and 09. The guys thirty but he may have a few more years in him as a backup. Oh and he only had 13 major league at bats in 2011. There wasn't a spot for him here. I think they are happy with Buck & Hayes, and maybe a cheap backup that doesn't have a recent history of injury problems. Like I said, his time here was done.
November 24, 201114 yr Misread and left out your "here" in the first sentence but you still act like he has no baseball left in him with this quote. "Guy was a great talker, and I expect to see him in a TV booth in a few years. He will do much better there than in a uniform." I disagree to that. I still think he has a few more years in.
November 24, 201114 yr This was about depth, and if he has a great spring training (though I doubt he will) then you let him possibly spot start a few times as the #5, use him in the pen as long relief/lefty, or send him down. Classic low risk move. Hopefully he channels his inner Sandy K sometime this winter. We got more for Baker than we did for Andrew "what is a strike?" Miller. lol
November 24, 201114 yr Speaking of Pinto... what ended up happening with him? I don't think he's played since we traded him. I know some people think he sucks, but he's not that bad. Good enough to be on a MLB roster, IMO.
November 24, 201114 yr Earlier today I read that he started two game for Caribes de Anzoátegui, in 13 1/3 innings he gave only 1 earned run. edit: Julio Franco is his manager.

I think he does too, but in a few years could mean 6 or 7 by which time he'd be 37 I believe and with his skillset, that might be asking his body too much. I believe he'll retire certainly by then.

Now we're on the same page. I Still think he has about 4-5 more years in him.
November 25, 201114 yr Am I correct in assuming that LeBlanc is out of options? He spent more time in the minors in 2011 than he did the majors. He's a nice return for Baker, but I think he's underwhelming enough that at some point he becomes a waste of roster space. According to A MLb.com video with Frisario the guy has one more option. Yep. Just read that in the PBP the other day too. And the kid seems genuinely(sp) happy to be trying out for a back end spot in the rotation this ST, or going down to work on whatever he needs to. Smart trade. Got something for Baker and filled a need with a lefty. Maybe just a little something extra to show those FAs we have offers out to that we are being serious about filling needs. Might not make a difference with them, but can't hurt.
