Almost as sad as the post humously rewarding of Ron Santo induction into the Hall of Fame.

Tim McCarver, an All-Star catcher who discovered a second career as a folksy announcer known for explaining the game in exacting detail, won the Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence on Wednesday.

Evidently baseball has run out of announcers to honor because next to Joe Morgan he has to be one of the worst in the game.

I knew they were running out when DVH won.

I don't know what I hate more, the sound of his voice or what he says.

So Tommy Hutton should get in soon.

This has got to mean the Hawk is next right?. Seriously though, I know alot of people hate him for being a homer but me a friend and I watch on mlb.tv for a good laugh and all the nicknames.

Joe Morgan is Vin Scully in comparison...

The award officially means nothing now

I much prefer Hawk over McCarver (although they both have different jobs).

So what. Its not like a Rays announcer won.

I'd rather listen to my announcers any day of the week than McCarver and Buck for a second.

I actually am with you on this one.

I think I'd even rather listen to John Sterling (at least he has some passion in his voice). That's how much I hate Buck/McCarver.

This can't be real. McCarver won an award for broadcasting???

I have a love/hate relationship with Harrelson. He has his moments where he is down right hilarious.. but he also has moments where he's an angry old man and boring as all hell. Steve Stone is what makes the broadcast (best in the biz).. Harrelson and Darrin Jackson were the most brutal duo of all time. Literally 5 minutes of dead air at a time
