Hanley?

Featured Replies

Just wondering is anyone else concerned about his drop off in Avg.? He has been struggling this season and wondered if anyone has a interesting take on what they believe is the issue? I hope he picks it up as they are beginning to play well. I hope to see them playing in October!! go Marlins

He looks way better than last year. He does need to pick it up at the plate though. It's like he has 1 or 2 good games and then he wants to hit bombs every ab. His d at third has been great.

I agree with his "D" and his RBI have been fine. I guess I am more concerned about the avg. I hope I am being paranoid all for nothing. He is still my favorite Marlin..

you all say his RBI's are fine, but he would have like 10 more if he gets in those runners from 3rd with 1 out.

as people have been saying, he ditched his line drive swing for the home run swing. his power's way up there but i just don't see the solid line drive singles to all fields that he did so well in '09. i don't know if that's bad or not.

he won't hit .230 all season, but i'm not sure he's a .300 hitter anymore.

Before season I was hoping Hanley could get back up to hit around .300. Right now I would be more than happy with just .270-280. He's doing the bigger leg kick for more power but it's still likely he will end up with 20+ hr's. I'd rather see a higher avg and more hits to move around the top of the order.

Maybe he means DH Hanley and have someone else play third. I don't know.

Of course, if anyone should be DHing it's Logan Morrison.

That seems silly. Hanley's been fine at 3rd base.

The thing I've noticed with Hanley, and he seems to be aware of this himself, is he's holding his hands higher (and moving his bat more) than he was in the first couple weeks of the season. I thought this would have been pointed out by Perez numerous times by now. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go through the mlb.tv archives and get some snapshots. Maybe I will later.

yeah, could be, but i think hanley's the only guy who's played every game this season

Hanley is fine, but he's definitely not playing well or even close to how we need to him play to go deep. Im not sure if there's a stat that shows RBI vs RBI oppurtunuties but I don't think he would be doing very well in that category

I don't think he should be sitting, but I'm not so sure he's been "fine" at third. While it should be taken into consideration that sampling size is still small, defensive metrics so far rate him as one of the worst 3rd basemen in the NL. He's not embarrassing himself out there, but he does look below average to me. Of course, there's still a learning curve with him too, I suppose.

I am much more repulsed by what Logan Morrison does in LF than Hanley at third, though.
