Eovaldi, Alvarez to the DL; Jose Fernandez called up

Not desperation at all, he was, really, the best option available. Really doesn't matter what the Fish do, Yahoo will criticize.

If your best option available at the start of the season is a 20 yr old who hasn't pitched in AA yet then it is desperation.Or a lack of quality depth.

If they didn't have quality depth, that means that the Marlins were desperate, doesn't it?

They know that Fernandez has the most upside so they seem willing to jeopardize his development and arbitration status in the hope that he puts up good numbers now.

Not exactly.

Desperation would have been, "we need someone NOW," and then go out and overpay for a crappy pitcher. Kinda like when we signed Mike Rivera for a backup catcher a couple years ago.

Well, they already have a bunch of Mike Rivera caliber pitchers. The desperation seems to be that they wanted someone with the potential to be decent (not a Mike Rivera) and thought that they had no choice but to rush Fernandez.

Desperation requires giving a **** about the product on the field, which you can't tell me this organization honestly tried to put together this year.

And yet they don't understand why the Home Opener isn't sold out.

About a week ago the sales department called me to buy some sort of package. AGAIN. This time offering me free tickets to the Home Opener if I would just get up off my wallet. These phone calls while I am working are really starting to tic me off. Telling them to take me off their list certainly isn't helping.
