June 26, 201313 yr Wells is making $21 mill this year. Be one hell of a severance package. But, that's actually not out of the realm of possibilities, so good thought there!

Yea but I don't think the Yanks are paying too much, if any, of that... Even if they are, sometimes you just gotta eat it, or hope he accepts a demotion to triple-A. Can't keep giving that guy at bats if you want to win. Ruggiano would probably finish this year with 30+ HR's at Yankee Stadium if he finished with over 500 ab's...
June 26, 201313 yr They're paying $13m, next year just $3m if they keep him. Angels are paying $8m and $18m respectively.

June 26, 201313 yr My point was more or less to prove that Ruggiano is capable of being a starting CFer on more than one team in this league... I thought you were originally responding to what I said. If you look at my post again, you'll see that I claimed that Ruggiano isn't a starter on a good team. I never said that he couldn't start on any team. So it seems like you went to a lot of effort for no reason. Well, my point was more or less he can contribute on a good team, which is true. There are a few competitive teams that he could certainly help out as a 4th OFer that gets a good amount of playing time... Especially in a smaller park, this guy could actually be a good player. I said he wasn't a starter on a good team. I never said he wouldn't be a contributor. I've been basically saying that he's a 4th outfielder/platoon player on any team but is only good enough to start on a bad team.

Well, joining the new conversation, he would start over Vernon Wells on the Yanks...
June 26, 201313 yr Wells isn't technically one of their starting outfielders, so I don't see the point.
June 27, 201313 yr Wells isn't technically one of their starting outfielders, so I don't see the point. Well, he's played enough to accumulate 250+ ab's... so idk what you call that.

Ruggiano would be a good fit for the Yanks, just saying.

He wouldn't be a DH candidate anyway because he plays above average defense. So, he'd likely be considered a 4th outfielder for them, which has been my point all along.

Well, keep in mind his numbers now take in to account half his playing time at Marlins Park. Going to Yankee stadium this guy could be a freakin' All-Star, not a 4th OFer.,,
June 27, 201313 yr Well, keep in mind his numbers now take in to account half his playing time at Marlins Park. Going to Yankee stadium this guy could be a freakin' All-Star, not a 4th OFer.,, That's a stretch. Even if that were the case the Yankees wouldn't start him over Granderson, Gardner, or Ichiro. For what it's worth, the AL East is also much more of a competitive division than the NL East is right now.
June 27, 201313 yr Not batting .220 he won't. Because he can't hit the ball at home and crushes the ball everywhere else in the country... I don't think the guy fits in with out plans, or our ballpark, but I can't wait to see him dealt just to find some success...

Are you implying that the pitching in the AL East is better than the pitching in the NL East or something? If not, it seems like a rather irrelevant thing to say in the context of the discussion.
