No Young is a switch hitter and better against lefties. And you know you have to pull Dunn if he gets to Wright. I don't get it.

Couple of questions about some top prospects....is there an ETA on when Moran will be the everyday third baseman? Also, does Heaney have a chance to make the rotation out of spring training next season?..and what will the marlins do when Heaney, Flynn, Nicolino, and Conley are MLB ready (next year)? There is speculation Conley may go to the bullpen, but with Fernandez, Turner, Eovaldi, and Alvarez already in the rotation, do the Marlins move a few of the SP to the bullpen, keep them in the minors, or package a few in a trade? I think it is far too early to move any young arms, as we do not know who will perform at the major league level. Having a surplus of young SP is definitely a good "problem" to have and once everyone gets settled into their roles during 2014-16, look for the FO to move a few prospects to bring in the final pieces of the puzzle.

 

 

Moran probably will be in the majors by June 2015, but it really depends on how he does in the minor leagues.

 

Heaney's also depends on how he takes the call up to Jacksonville. If he dominates in the manner that he and Fernandez similarly dominated A+ ball, he deserves a chance to compete for a rotation spot next season. Flynn will maybe get a rotation tryout as a September call up this season, and Nicolino is likely to spend at the very least half of 2014 in AA to refine his stuff. He should be in the majors soon given that he was a polished college kid when drafted.

 

Conley's done well as a starter, but you're right that he's likely to begin with us as a long reliever. Fernandez is the only certainty in the rotation, while Turner has done well enough that if he finishes the season strong, he guaranteed a rotation spot next year. I also expect Alvarez and Eovaldi to be rotation guys next season. Out of all those guys, Eovaldi has the stuff to convert to a reliever and be very successful if rotation spots need to be opened. Overall it's not bad to have too many pitching options. You don't trade any of them. You just figure out which ones are legitimate starters and which ones need to be converted to the bullpen or left on the back burner.
